You wanna complain fine, but quit acting as if the seasons over

How many at large bids?

Thanks for playing :hi:

This is stupid. 68 teams make it. Being one isn't any measure. Coaches in power conferences get fired for sneaking in and losing early. The XAvier team that beat us has one player and stiffs. We made a turd center look like a draft choice.

No that's not what I said, you're trying to over simplify things. On the flip side, you may find a hell of a coach, but who doesn't win...what the F good does that do? At the end of the day it's about wins and losses.

Like I said, he has beaten plenty of good teams and coaches for me to think its a coincidence. Beating LSU and Virginia the way we did isn't some fluke, it was a good job of coaching and game planning by Martin IMO.

The first half last night was a good half, I just thought we really lost focus coming out of the half, and that's on him.

Beating plenty of good teams and coaches is the standard now by which to judge CCM's success? The fact is that CCM has never made the NCAAT in his entire career and now in season 3 at UT we are discussing what Tennessee has to do to even hopefully make the tourney and what this projection or that projection says. The discussions will continue much as they have the last two and one half years. And CCM needs to do more than win 20 games to make the NCAAT given the weakness of the SEC these days.

All those teams you posted that UT beat under Martin, how many bids did that get Martin, bTNo? I'll wait.

Let's throw out all the sh*t losses he's had while we're at it.

Austin Peay at home, swept by UGA, UTEP, A & M at home. There are just as many horrible losses that he has had as really good wins. That's his problem and why he hasn't made the dance.

Like Andy Kennedy last year? I thought he received an extension and raise last year.

I've said the same.

He makes the dance he will stay, he doesn't and he's on his way out (this year or next), it's that simple.

Went back and looked it up. We've beaten 6 tourney teams. Three of them belonging to Fla. The other ones are UConn (8 seed), Wich St (9 seed & final four team) and Vandy.

And lost to 5 horrible teams. That's why we haven't made the tourney. Tit for tat.

Have I not said consistency is the issue?

This is like the 5th time I've had to question your selective reading. You're trying to call me on stuff that I agree with, if you'd read my entire post you could save yourself some time.

He did. And that was a bad thing for Ole Miss. They kept him around 8 years to make that tourney 1 year (because he sold his soul to get Marshall Henderson in) and now they're stuck with him for another 4 years.

And shouldn't have. He's at Ole Miss. How do they do better. He's a decent coach in a tough situation. Ours is a terrible coach in a decent situation.

Again with your anecdotal silliness that doesn't talk to what our coach has the team do to try and win. He detracts from this current team.

Having talent to beat people and stumbling backward into not royally screwing it up every once in a while isn't coaching. That's a team winning one of five in an NBA series because basketball can be fickle.

Who said refs you idiot. In basketball, teams win based on foul trouble and circumstance. That's why the NBA has series you idiot. One off wins mean nothing until tournaments. Unfortunately, trends mean more and ours sucks.

Stop with the idiotic one off win crap. This is basketball. You want single game stuff, talk football.

Lmao, dude says we have no offense while being ranked top 20 in offensive efficiency, how funny.

The nursing home needs to cut off your internet privileges gramps.

And it's a terrible outcome. Sneaking into a dance of 68 teams is garbage.

So, what are you arguing? You keep trying to say, "But guys, we're still in all the brackets!! This loss isn't the end of the season!!" Who gives a damn? We've seen this movie before. Sorry, if we know how it's going to end. You're holding out hope. Well keep hoping.

So it's gonna end with us missing out, that's what you're saying? Boss up!

My stance has been the same since page 1. Criticize all you want, it's warranted, but to act as if we are in worse shape than the previous 2 years is beyond idiotic.

Oh, it's stupid stat idiocy for people who can't play ball. Get the hell out with that idiocy. We have no offense. Offensive rebounding, which isn't coached, is all we do well. Our post guys finally get an advantage and we move them from the bucket. You keep up the stupid of forming opinions on our offense as we beat preseason schedule and stumble into a good shooting week. That's genius.

Advanced stats against asymmetrical schedules is awesome. Keep that coming.

Like I said, look forward to your insight next year when Martin's on the Tennessee sideline.

The Internet driven basketball stats genius who wouldn't know basketball from a gorilla. I enjoy reading crap from stats hounds. Makes our defense better too.

Virginia isn't a good team? RPI in the 20s

Xavier isn't a good team? RPI in the 20s

Calipari isn't a good coach, and didn't have a talented team? We beat them by 30.

Calhoun isn't a HOF, didn't have a good team? We beat them.

Donovan isn't a great coach, hasn't had talented and experienced teams? Martin is 3-0 against him.

Greg Marshall is a nobody, didn't have a final four team last year? Martin out coached him last year.

And how many NCAA bids has this got Martin?

I'll wait while you go count

But if according to what bTo has stated in this thread and Tennessee does what they have done in the past two seasons, that means that the Vols will lose 6 more games and will finish the season at 20 and 10. Unless they win two games convincingly in the SECT then I doubt seriously that they will receive an at large bid given the losses we have suffered coupled with CCM's lack of cred with the AA and the weakness of the SEC. But as said before these threads will continue with bTo at the helm.

And that is what the board was created for - discussion....
