Your feelings on Dabo?

Again - sports are cyclical. Jimbo had the premier player for a couple of years at the most important position and was able to win a title with him. A couple years later, Dabo had the premier player (Watson and Lawrence) at the most important position and won a couple of titles with them. Things ebb and flow.

He won 10 regular season games twice without Crab Legs (2012 and 2015) and finished 8th in the country another year. Jimbo's non-Jameis FSU teams were better than people remember. That narrative has caught on the more Jimbo has struggled at A&M.
Actually won 10 games 3 times (2012 2015 2016) before the wheels fell off in 2017 and he bailed to aTm.

I’m just saying it’s not nearly as stupid as going around with the Name Dabo because your brother couldn’t pronounce that boy.

Understood lol

Side note...Dabo sure made an a$$ of himself more than usual yesterday.

I get wanting to fire back but I think coaches and players seldom if ever come out ahead trying to argue with fans.

He still averaged 2-3 ACC losses per season in those 10 win seasons when he had exponentially more talent than anyone not named Clemson. I’m not even sure what you’re (or we’re) debating anymore. Dabo nor Jimbo have sniffed a playoff or title without generationally talented QB’s; while Saban has won with the likes of McElroy, McCarron and Coker. Kirby with SB4, Harbaugh with McNamara and McCarthy.

Anybody else think Dabo might not be as long for that job as maybe it appears? I'd be really curious to see what happens there if they win 8/9 games this year and next. He has an enormous buyout, so I don't see him quitting, but he is so out of step with the direction the sport is heading. It would not shock me if at some point before the end of the the 2026 season there is a lot of smoke about his job security.

Also, that has to be an interesting dynamic in the locker room between head coach and player, where the coach doesn't think guys should be able to transfer immediately or get paid. Not only are you at a disadvantage because you don't use the Portal, but the coach taking unpopular stances on the changes in the sport can't be good for future recruiting.

All good points

I think he will go out like Bob Stoops. young, of his own volition. may just be looking for someone to hand it off too.

Eventually it occurs to most of us that hanging on to our jobs just for the sake of hanging on when we’re getting less joy (or even unhappiness) from them is pointless and downright dumb. The world changes, and we’re not going to able to change it back, no matter how hard we wish.

Dabo has his place in the record books, and I’m pretty sure he can afford that place on the lake. Grab the money, step out on a high point (not the highest imaginable point), and go enjoy life. Have fun, travel, and sleep in every now and then.

Dabo is in a profession where very, very few coaches go out that way, but I could see him doing that in 5-7 years, maybe as he approaches 60 (assuming Clemson hasn't fired him by then.

With that new contract he signed a couple years ago, I don't see him stepping away within the next couple of years.

I was under the impression Stoops was pushed out because they did not want Lincoln Riley to get a HC position somewhere else.

Dabo has too many people close to him who are tied in with Clemson. At least 4 more years, would be my guess.

I don’t know why, but i didn’t appreciate his burger flipping comment about TN. I hear he’s a really great person, but his attempt at motivation to his players came at the expense of our guys when our QB took a season ending injury. It was the opposite of classy.
