Zach Azzanni new WR Coach

Tee is coaching top draft prospects at USCw....Azzanni's best WR is a walk on at Wisconsin

fyp As for why Beliema didn't take Azzanni to Arky, it could be that he he gave Chaney some say so in choosing his offensive staff. Or maybe Azzanni didn't want to go to Arky. Not everybody wants to go there.

Tee was coaching top draft picks he didn't recruit at USC though!!! If that walk on gets drafted who did better job!!! Let's give guy a chance before we label him a bust!!!!

I love Tee Martin, but I agree with you. Tee was getting hammered lat year at UK due to recievers dropping passes, etc. His response when asked to explain was "I played qb". Recruiting-wise and nostalgia-wise, I wanted Tee. X and O's wise, Azzanni could be just as good if not a better hire

I'm not defending the hire but, You must not have read where Azzani was hired under Urban in 2011 at Florida and then Urban temporarily retired immediately following that season, thus not having anywhere to take coaches. Now Bielema not taking him to Arky is another thing, but don't let the facts get in the way of the truth here.

i never said he was a bust. i said he was not a "BOOM". I said he was not a great hire...i said there were better guys we could have gotten...i said other colleges weren't knocking down his door throwing money at him....never said he was a bust. IMO...it wont take him long to achieve that status with most of the fans. People saying he is a great coach this...and great recruiter that...has florida ties...rabble rabble rabble rabble....There is no evidence to support any of that rabbling. He was not highly sought after by former or current employers...his recruiting history...is limited, at best. He has age on his side...as far as being a great coach...we'll see...but again, nothing suggests he is. People should also remeber....as much as CBJ says his offense is centered around the quarterback...dont buy too much into that...its coach speak. He runs the ball. Look at his numbers.

Then why isnt he at OSU?

Who knows!!! Maybe a lateral move within conference to a team who is serving NCAA sanctions, after 1 year removed of being left out in the cold by Meyer at FLA. Let's not make assumptions until the guy has a chance to show something.

Fair enough, but I think he may have more FLA ties than you think but I'm reading between the lines of what I'm reading on him. He has been recruiting in Fla for a long time, and we need all the help we can get in that state!!! It's cool though you are entitled to your opinion!!!

Well fact is that's exactly what I said. Urban didn't call Azzanni when he was hired at TOSU. That's not a big deal though. The argument was in context of if Azzanni was a great recruiter he wouldn't be on his fourth lateral move in 4 years. Head coaches everywhere lock down great recruiters.

He hasn't been recruiting in Florida for a long time. Truth is he has never signed a single player out of Florida even when he was at Florida. I think some people are confusing Azzanni with Addazio who was a very good recruiter at Florida.

Thought you went to bed? :)

What the hell are you talking about? Lets break down this seemingly common frame of thinking. Firstly...a lateral move inside the conference, or outside the conference makes no difference. It all depends on what school you are leaving, and going to. Leaving the Badgers...for a team everyone knew would be good next season...who ended up going undefeated this season...is not a lateral move. It is a gigantic step up. Wisconsin to Tennessee is more of a lateral move that than. Secondly...he has no ties to any of the universities. He didn't spend a full recruiting season with florida, and has never landed anyone from florida. I doubt very much, that his lifes ambitions were to climb the ranks of coaching in college football, and get all the way to WR's coach and then stop climbing. Seems to me, you get more opportunities at places that succeed. He would be at OSU if there was any chance of it...not going from an 8-5 team, to a 5-7 team

You know how it is this place just sucks you in plus the new guy didn't fill my shoes like I thought he would :) I'm out this time though. Happy Holidays

tom and jerry came on...that little mouse cracks me up...so clever:spank:

Well he was recuticting in Fla 10 yrs ago, because that's where he 1st meet Beilema. He was working at Bowling green at that time!!!
also this:
Azzanni has a connection to Charlie Partridge, UW's co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. Over the years, they've crossed paths frequently while recruiting in south Florida.
I'm not making this stuff up!!!

He likely is a decent coach but we needed either a great DC or a dynamic recruiter with that last hire. CBJ has fooled me once. I went to bat with everyone concerning his staff now I'm left wondering WTF he's thinking. Pitiful

Who would u hire?

Maybe he didn't want to move to Ohio and work for CUM.. Maybe he was in on more of the uf recruiting than we think.. Thing is, we as fans don't know all these details.. Despite what many here believe, not everything u read on the Internet is true.. Ill trust CBJ til he gives me a reason not to.

 They do? Well, Butch Jones had better get a do-over and get Hinshaw in here, instead. He was the best recruiter we had.

This guy is better than Tee. With that being said It would have been cool to have TEE back on the sidelines.

Urban Meyer hired Azzanni at Bowling Green as a graduate assistant when Meyer became the Falcons' coach in 2001. Azzanni remained at Bowling Green after Meyer left to become Utah's head coach in 2003 and coached receivers for four seasons. Azzanni joined the Central Michigan staff in 2007 as the assistant head coach/receivers coach. "He is a tireless worker, relentless recruiter, and a great teacher of fundamentals," Meyer said. "He is also very familiar with our philosophy and will be a good fit with our players and staff."

In the past 10 years, Azzanni has been called a “relentless” recruiter by Urban Meyer. He has most notably been a staple in the recruiting areas of the state of Florida, in particular the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.

Azzanni has experienced three Bowl seasons at Central Michigan, a BCS All State Sugar Bowl win, another Outback Bowl win at Florida, 2 Bowl wins while Wide Receiver's Coach at Bowling Green, including one over Big Ten Opponent Northwestern. Add that to the record breaking players he has coached in Antonio Brown (CMU), Charles Sharon (Bowling Green), and Western Kentucky running back Bobby Rainey.

Seems he would be a coach that can coach kids up!! Raw talent like CP could benefit from a coach like Azzani.
