‘18 QB Grad Transfer Keller Chryst (UT commit 3/1/18)

Were you at practice to see Chryst? And if so, how?

Miss STate has the best qb In the sec if he’s healthy.

Not sure about that. Fitzgerald is a great runner, but he's not a good passer. He also has a pretty bad TD/Int ratio compared to what the better QB's have. Some of our fans complain about Chryst's completion % but Chryst's and Fitzgerald's are both around 55%. But Chryst doesn't turn it over like Fitzgerald does.I would put Locke,Tua, Bentley, Shurmur, Stidham and Fromm ahead of Fitzgerald as far as being a pure QB. Fitzgerald is more of a great athlete, who is an elite runner playing QB.

Completion % is one of the most overrated states imo. That depends so much on the offense and the QBs willingness to take shots. Kirk Cousins led in the NFL in completion % two years ago with like 70%+ Bc all he did was check down and throw screens.

No way I’m putting tua better than him after a half of football. I do think Locke is good but i think if you put FitZ in Auburn’s offense with their athletes he do way better than stidham.

I agree the completion % is not the best way to judge a QB. Not having good receiver's can hurt that number too. I do put the TD/Int ratio as extremely important on judging success of a QB. I should change how I said that. I would put Tua as the much better passer than Fitzgerald. I hate Ala but Tua played well every time during the season he got to play. I can see Fitzgerald at a different position when it comes NFL time. It's hard to say what Nick would do in Auburn offense. It's currently centered around having a passing QB and Stidham doesn't run much. I know a lot of people like Nick but he took a step back as passer from his So and Jr year and he should have improved.I definitely understand your side too!

Imagine if Tua never got a chance to play in the title game.. and he transferred with Pruitt here. (Would’ve been blocked but still fun to think)

Absolutely!! I know Jalen wins but there's no way Ala wins Tua doesn't play the 2nd half. I know Saban is the best at what he does but damn I'd start Tua all day over Jalen. That would have been a helluva combo to have gotten here. Tua definitely isn't sitting on the bench again as #2 and still staying in Tuscaloosa. I hate seeing Tua at Ala. Think he has the chance to be an elite QB if he continues to develop. He would look so much better in Orange and White lol

Why would Dooley affect Lock negatively?

The UT offenses under Dooley were legit

Technically, yes, but you can't really decouple the offensive success under Dooley from Bray. The offense was not good without Bray and we don't know what Bray could have done without Dooley. Same as the Jones-Dobbs effect, we know the offense hummed with Dobbs, but we don't know if it could have been better under a different coach.

Dooley rightfully gets a lot of criticism. But he is actually a very smart offensive mind. Now he is terrible at most everything else.

He's got shower technique and etiquette down cold.

It's gonna be funny if he turns out to be a really good OC..

People usually have a ceiling. They might be great up to position coach level but just not meant to be a coordinator. Some are great up to the OC/DC level but flame out when they try to move up to HC level. DD has never been an OC so we will see where his ceiling is. Position or OC. We know he isn't a HC guy

He may have just got too far ahead of himself..he always had potential. He is not an idiot.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up HC again at a mid level and actually do well. He was nowhere 😉 near ready when he got the UT job.
