’14 GA ATH Elliott Berry (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Nobody suggested they be "offered" a walk on or that they didn't deserve a scholarship.

If you concede they deserve a scholarship, then why are you wanting to treat the Berry's differently than any other recruit? Because their brother has money? Maybe Eric doesn't want to pay his brother's way. Maybe Eric believes the twins should earn everything they are given, just like he did. Maybe the twins don't want to take their brother's money. Maybe they want to earn a scholarship just like the rest of the class.

Is the "thought" that Eric Berry could/should pay his brothers' way a rational thought?

Lol Butch please. It isn't happening. Every source close to the program have completely shot it down.

The word "should" and has never been used. Some of us fans would never dream of letting our kid take a schollie spot at UT if we could easily afford to pay their way instead, regardless of how good a player our kid were and how much they deserved a schollie. It's plenty rational to hope that might happen with other fans and their kids and siblings as well. No one says it should happen, but I'd do it in a heartbeat, and so would plenty of other fans.

If they didn't deserve a scholarship, this wouldn't be a discussion. It only buys us 2 scholarships if they deserve it and would otherwise occupy those signing spots.

And no one has proposed we treat them differently. We simply pondered how awesome it would be if EB volunteered. Nothing more.

King of like Ron going on and on about us beating Bama. Wishful thinking, never would have happened, still fun to hope for.

I care so much because it's an embarrassing discussion. Recruits read their threads all the time. I don't think the Berry twins need to get on VN to find a bunch of folks discussing how their brother should/would/could/might pay for their way so they could walk on and use the scholarships on other recruits.

Evan and Elliott are very good FB players and have earned the right to be on scholarship to many BCS schools. It's a slap in their face, a slap in Eric's face, a slap in every Vol fans face to even discuss this nonsense, IMO. And if you guys continue to bring it up, I'll continue to give my opinion. :hi:

Nobody ever once suggested they didn't earn the right to a scholarship. If you are going to go around attacking everybody, at least bother to read what you are attacking.

I didn't attack anyone, what are you talking about? Saying an argument is stupid is attacking? Grow thicker skin.

Comparing this walkon nonsense to hoping UT wins vs Bama? Wow.

Why aren't we talking/wishing/hoping TKJr would walk on then? I'm fairly certain their family could afford it.

Yep. Totally unrealistic, VQ guys said so in their predictions, etc... We had no chance, but it was still fun to hope for and tall about, and people didn't go around saying how stupid your opinion was for hoping something good would happen to the program.

Exactly. Or many others. The fact is, it's being discussed because many of our "fans" don't believe the Berry twins are worth a scholarship due to the numbers crunch. They try to pretend like it's just fun to talk about and guys like me should get over it. We don't see them in TKjr's or D. Bates threads, do we? Nope.

I've said from day one the twins are worth it, and so have most people. EB made more on signing day than TK Sr made his whole NFL career. That's why.

lol

I'm a fan. Most fans like to think their team can beat anyone, any given Saturday. Just because the odds were stacked against us vs. Bama doesn't mean UT can't win that game. This is another stupid argument by you. Congrats.

Do you read at all or just conjure up ideas in your own head and go around attacking other people for your own ideas? Why don't you show me where I said any of the things you just suggested??

W/e kid, you can't have a civilized adult discussion so I'm done.

And who are you to spend Eric's money? Ridiculous.

Lol, still refusing to actually read. The likelihood of a billionaire to make a large donation is significantly more than a millionaire. That logic is why tthe greater likelihood of a voluntary donation is higher with EB, and that's why it was discussed more here than in TK's thread.

No, it's discussed because the numbers are tight, the twins haven't committed, and many of you think they aren't worth the scholarships. Stop trying to pretend it's because their brother is wealthy and that's the only reason.

I thought we were done discussing?

And Eric isn't a billionaire. Whether you realize it or not spending a couple hundred thousand dollars on his brothers college, when they could go for free, probably isn't something his financial adviser recommends.
