Let me preface this by saying I hope they both become Vols. But to be honest I wouldn't lose much sleep over them going elsewhere. We are in on so many other quality prospects that it won't hurt our class one bit. I would hate to see them in anything but a UT jersey though

All you have to do is look at their offer lists to know they are elite athletes. And when you have a high character prospect who has elite athletic abilities, blazing speed, and strong ties to the program, you take. I can't think of any recruits in this class who would upset the fanbase more if they went to Auburn, Georgia, or another SEC program. They are key prospects, much like Dillon Bates, TKjr, Wharton, & Creamer, afterall it is the "Legacy Class". Just my opinion, but I don't think there is any way Butch Jones turns them down over equally talented prospects. Think some of us are getting too caught up in the star rating, once again. If these guys were both 4 stars, we would not be seeing this.

Two spots in the class left. Mouhon, Truitt, and the Berry brothers are all still uncommitted. Who would you rather have?

What would be your opinion if their recruiting picks up? They have legit offers already, all while doing few camps.

Evan is a 4* and hasn't done many camps, he is an elite athlete and not sure why anyone wouldn't want him.

Elliot is a great athlete too and seems to be I'm the tweener area, that's his only knock.

Both are legit high D1 players. Too many want to compare them to Eric which is not really fair. Eric was a top 5 prospect and one of the greatest to suit up here, most everyone is not an Eric Berry.

Offers from LSU, OSU, Georgia, UF, and Tenn. I'd say they are most definitely high D1 players. They can play in the SEC and we know they are very quick as both are stars in track.

Berrys. Evan and Truitt are comparable athletes. Mouhon is probably a better linebacker than Elliot, but you can't take one Berry without the other if both want to come. I wouldn't say there is a big enough drop off either way to take that kind of PR hit.

Don't take a QB IMO, if it came down to choosing between Berrys.

Only way I would not take the Berry brothers is if they insist on waiting till NSD and have not told the coaches they are all VOL. If we are full(2 spots left) at any point before NSD, coaches should tell them its now or they risk the spots. If they want to wait, fill the class if there are kids ready to be a VOL and don't want to wait. JMO

As I have said before, to me the Berry's are #2 & #3 on my must get for this class list. Dillon is #1. I don't risk the spots though and the chance of not being full on NSD to let kids play the game.

Sort of a false dilemma. The coaches could just as easily ask 2 others to look elsewhere and take all 4. I see your point though. We could lose out on them and be just fine (might even end up with a higher ranked class if you're a star gazer).

Agreed and I don't think there is any chance of that happening.

I think they've already given our staff a good indication that they want to be Vols but just want to explore a few options and commit after their season.

I would be shocked if they aren't Vols by 1-1-14.

I want to see the video on the jumbo tron of all 3 Berry boys taking their dad another blue tick hound. It matters, Eric will be around more if we get the twins and that matters. Period

If Butch Jones offers scholarships because of last names, he will not be around more. Period.

They are SEC caliber talent....how is that offering just becuase of their last name? WOW

I am not convinced they are SEC caliber players, at least not for the top half of the conference. Outside of the UT camp visit, they haven't had any noted recruiting contact with a respectable SEC school in almost a year.

Evan wants to play WR and we seem very content with Lauderdale and waiting on Malone.

Elliot is a S/LB tweener. Both positions of need where we are recruiting elite players.

Players in a family like the Berrys are generally going to be more developed as football players at the high school level than their counterparts. Despite that fact they don't seem to jump out at you as prospects.

Just an opinion though.

There seem to be three camps of people:
The "OMG OMG OMG their last name is Berry they must be a dentist for bull hippopatomuses as a side job and also able to breathe underwater."
The " They seem like pretty damn solid players but I think we are in on some guy that are better. AKA, I would love for them to be a part of this class but won't cry if they aren't."
And a very few in the " I don't think they are any good."

I belong to the middle group.

How many 4/5* busts over the last 5 years had people convinced they were "top half of the SEC players"? I can probably name 8-10 off the top of my head that committed to UT.

I think it's pretty ridiculous that this topic is even being discussed.

They are ridiculously athletic, they come from a great family, they have a support system, UT should be able to count on them for four years....

Sign the boys up and watch them produce in 2-3 years....

:good!: I think 80-90% of us fall into this category.

Both Berry brothers possess elite speed and are elite athletes. Both are sure-fire takes as well, names aside. I know debate is the point of sports message boards, but this post should save you fellas the trouble ha
