Lemme break this down for ya, Barney-style.

1: It's incomprehensibly stupid.
2: If I'm Eric Berry, and this subject is even BROACHED to me, my little brothers go to Alabama.
3: It's incomprehensibly stupid.
4: It's a slap in the face to Elliott and Evan, who were PROMISED A FREAKING FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIP.
5: It's incomprehensibly stupid.
6: It's a slap in the face to Eric, who gave his all for Tennessee, and is now reaping the well-deserved rewards.
7: It's incomprehensibly stupid.
8: It's a slap in the face to James, who gave his all for Tennessee, sent his oldest son there, and is now reaping the rewards as is deserved.
9: It's incomprehensibly stupid.
10: It hurts us with a potential pipeline school. "Oh, we're gonna offer these kids a full ride. What's that?? Their brother is loaded and is a graduate?? Let's see if he'll pay for their schooling, even though we offered them a full ride!!! GREAT idea!!!"

(edited because I forgot a point*)

11: Not to mention the fact that the NCAA would be beating down our doors if this happened. 99.9999% chance it's illegal as all hell. Oh, and because it's incomprehensibly stupid.

Idiocy of this level hasn't been seen on VolNation since the 2.4 million threads swearing that Jon Garbage was the second coming of General Neyland.

So spot on.

Why does everybody assume that the idea had to come to the Berry family and not from the Berry family?

It wouldnt, IMO because it overshoadows the twins. EB would never do this to his brothers...yes do this to his brothers. Its disrespectful on so many levels to what they are working for. I guess if they dont make it into the league, EB can buy them some type of business and pay their way through life? These guys have more pride then that fellas!!!

He was not asked. He has not volunteered. Some people speculated how cool it would be if he did volunteer, and the insecure people on here used that whimsical thinking to bash people who thought about it, because they want to feel better about themselves.

If EB were to do that, it would be a huge VFL move and I would be all for it.:good!:

I cannot think of a better Alumni donation myself giving the circumstances.

Problem is that it's not plausible. Anyone thinking it is should get a mental checkup.

You are correct! A high profile nfl alum would never even consider making a donation to their college program that would certainly make the team stronger! It's foolish to think guys make donations and care about their old programs.

Yep, cause that's what I said. Of course you're a part of the group that thinks this is possible.

That's exactly what you are saying.

We are talking about 35k for a semester. Anybody that thinks it isn't POSSIBLE needs to study VFL and money they have been donated over the years.

Archie should've paid for Eli to walk on at Ole miss!

Mike Vick should've paid for Marcus to walk on at Virginia Tech!

I think you need brush up on your definition of "exactly." Plenty of players make donations. This isn't a donation. You are *literally* the dumbest. Dumbest what? Dumbest of all things.

I think the more reasonable posters understand that this topic HAS never and WILL never be talked about by, to, or from the Berry household. It is purely asinine to think this is even a possibility. Nice idea, sure, but only the strongest and richest homer would even consider it. But you know what? The university should never even accept it out of respect for their talents. They are FBS top-shelf talent and deserve to be given the perks that go with it: a free college education.

This is becoming the recruiting equivalent of the Gruden threads: a pipe dream.

Good points. My guess is that it is plausible that EB could do this but more than likely it will not happen. But it would be about one of the coolest things a VFL has ever done.

This thread is starting to turn into a great representation of why our country is where it is finically right now. Just because someone works and makes lots of money doesn't mean they should in any way be asked to provide for the benefit of others. I'm sure Eric would gladly take care of his brothers college expenses if they weren't good enough to play college ball, but they are. This is the same principal as asking people who go to med school for 6-8 years and specialize in something to provide 20-30% of their earnings through taxes to pay for Joe who has three kids and no job. People don't realize how hard it is to go through med school or how hard it is to play a professional sport. All people see is,"Oh he/she is rich" let's get them to help us out.

CBJ: eric, your brothers want to wait til after the hs season to commit so their teammates can be seen. I am hearing other schools are selling go somewhere other than ut and make a name for yourselves. Any reason to worry??

EB: no. Heard you are killing it on the trail!

CBJ: yep. We could sign 40 4 stars if the rules allowed.

EB: anything I can do to help?? Anyway around those rules?

CBJ: there is a loop hole in the rules. If a kid pays for one semester they can be put on scholarship in the spring and they don't count.

EB: hmmm......

The only thing I can argue with here is that one is by force and the other is not but I like your point very much.

Tyranny vs Charity.

My post was a casualty of the merging threads...I'll try to recreate with justice...You been in a Korean prison bro? This thing won't die no matter how many brakelines we cut. If Eric Berry offers GREAT!...to even suggest it from our end is RUDE. Do we have the Manning twins lives planned out yet?...TICK TOCK

I laughed.:good!:

Edit: Love the Avatar also.

Here's what I don't get:

Why isn't there any talk about Bill Bates paying Dillon's way? Or TK Sr. paying for Jr.?

Because it's a stupid idea.
