I think it's actually a compliment that we are talking about this in relation to the Berry family and not others. We perceive them to be humble, generous VFLs. JMO.

Serious question: What is the difference in EB giving to the University through his brothers than directly to the AD? We know Eric donates right? Not advocating either way but what truly is the difference? Is it just the disgrace of having high profile, legacy recruits accepting a preferred walk-on status?

The twins EARNED a scholarship. A donation is simply a gift. Paying for them to walk-on takes away from something they EARNED. That's a major difference.

So if they don't pay for the twins to walk-on when they EARNED a scholarship that means they aren't humble, generous VFLs?

Hmmmm I could spend a TON of my own coin to watch my brothers play for a team I love to free up only 2 scholarships

OR

I could watch them play for free at UT, where they deserve to have their school paid for like they were promised already

Could it be that the Berrys are a little more humble than you can comprehend? Not to say they don't have humility if this isn't what happens, but to say that it is an impossible act is ridiculous.

It's the fact that they can come to school here for free. Why doesn't Manziel's parents pay for his school? They donate there. It's because he has a full ride

Scholarships are a sign of earned respect. To intervene there takes away independence and earned respect. No way in hell this happens. You know the way it has never happened in the past at damn near any major school.

He won't get a tax write off if he pays the tuition, unlike a donation to the school. And a donation to the school to pay for their education sounds like a violation.

So it's just the prestige thing. The way it looks to others. Because from a financial standpoint it really is no different. You're just saying they would feel slighted because they are not on scholarship for one semester. What if it was the Berry's idea?

No I'm saying if you have a free ride, you don't have to spend your money. Cause it's free. If it's the Berrys idea they can do whatever they want. But nothing at all suggests it's their idea. Why doesn't Peyton just pay for everyone then?
