‘21 GA PF Jabari Smith (Auburn commit)

Make the NCAA Tournament with Barnes or stay at the bottom of the SEC with Crean?

This can’t be that tough of a decision.
You wouldn't think so... and the elite basketball players in Georgia have never shown much in-state loyalty to the Dawgs. I don't get it... but he will probably choose Georgia and carry a bad team to the NIT, just like Edwards would have done.

Lol Georgia wasn’t sniffing the NIT

If you take him for his word and he’s honest with himself the choice won’t be Georgia...

2021 top five prospect Jabari Smith sets commitment date
That quote is a few weeks old, or one very similar to it. I said at the time that he basically described Tennessee and Barnes, perfectly with it.

Winning program ✅
Coach that will push him ✅
Coach who won't treat him differently than other players ✅
Coach who has coached someone like him (Durant) ✅

Honestly feel like he picks Tennessee. Just basing that on Bossi's comment a few weeks ago about Tennessee making some positive progress and buzz recently coupled with Rob Lewis saying he'd lean towards him picking Tennessee last night. Based on his comments about what he's looking for it just doesn't seem to align with Georgia to me. I'm gonna be anxious Friday lol

Have any quotes? Thanks!

Yeah, I can confirm Sab direct quoted Rob Lewis. Now I one of those rare times I wish I had a VQ account so I could read what he said.

I do not. That's what Sab said on Twitter and I know he pretty much copies and pastes Rivals quotes lol

Maybe @MoB_MoVols can post what Rob said verbatim.

From Rob Lewis last night fellas...
Based on my latest conversations with people I was under the impression that he would wait. I think him going early is good for Tennessee or UGA. I would say he has probably spoken to Tennessee about his plans though.
I lean towards Tennessee but this is NOT a story is written situation. I just think winning is too important to him for him to pick UGA. Auburn in there as well, but if I had to pick I would go with Vols as of tonight. We will see though, I could certainly be wrong.

Doesn’t seem like anyone has a good idea of what will go down, which is a testament to Jabari and how he has handled his recruitment.

Really hope we land him. Many analysts say he is the most complete player in the entire class. Pairing him with Chandler would be quite the statement.

Only thing making me feel good is that JD Davison went to Bama and Georgia offered two 2021 bigs about three weeks ago.

Dan McDonald, the UGA Rivals guy who forecasted Smith to UGA a few months ago...

I'm going SLIGHT lean to Tennessee right now, but I definitely wouldn't rule out Auburn or Georgia. They've kept this one REALLY tight.

If you've read my posts recently, you'll know I've backed off UGA leading for a while now. I've been saying it's really tight with Tennessee and maybe Auburn too for at least a few weeks now.

Travis Branham just put in a crystal ball for Auburn. He was out front with the time of the announcement. So that's a bit concerning.

Yeah, I don't like that. But also, he wasn't the one who revealed the actual commitment, and we have multiple other Rivals guys saying Tennessee or slight lean Georgia, so I think at this point it's safe to say no one truly knows.

EDIT: Okay nvm I think it's wrap. Branham is 38/38 this year. He knows something. Damn.....

I think these guys are just following the Branham crystal-ball pick train, but this random Auburn podcast that is followed by Jeremy Pruitt all picked Auburn, so I don't know if they actually have a basketball source our not, but was interesting when I saw Pruitt's name pop up lol.

"I would say he has probably spoken to Tennessee about his plans though. " I find it interesting that Rob said this considering most are under the impression he gets his info directly from the coaching staff.

Dan McDonald just changed his Rivals Forecast to Tennessee.

Makes sense, considering his most recent statement. I don't know why I am discounting his forecast, I guess the Branham thing just makes me nervous because he rarely makes picks but is almost never wrong---38/38 in the 2021 class and 52/53 all-time.
