#1 SC vs #2 Stanford Tuesday deserves its own thread

I was able to watch second half. Good game. Stanford didn't do a very good job with Henderson in the second half. Henderson was great. Her two steals in third quarter were huge. Don't know if both were clean... suspect on a neutral court they would not have been. For me the play that decided the game was late in fourth quarter when Brink missed a two foot give-me...and SC had a guard leak out for a layup. Four point swing.

Shoutout to South Carolina. They made an incredible comeback and have put together an elite resume early in the season.

I do think theyā€™re beatable though.
Top ten or so teams can all beat each other no question.. I think that is good for the game, surprised me how closely related the Stanford games were for both the UT and SC gamesā€¦.almost identical. 3rd quarter turn around from a beat down, interestingā€¦not sure why but it was a duplicate.

Top shelf entertainment....
Good WBB GT, was fun to watch, hopefully games like that attract more viewers to expand the fan base for WBB. National viewers with no skin in the game saw a close game, an exciting game. Iā€™d be just as excited about that game regardless of outcome, it was good for the sport.

GT, Iā€™m thinking of the Allman Bros song Midnight Riderā€¦ā€.I got one more silver dollarā€, this season will have many more great games between many more great teams.

I mean except for the most important part, yeah it was pretty close. But at least we still have our moral victory...

I think the three teams involved in this convo played each other in a three day span, outiside of UT and SC, my point was the results were almost eeerily identicalā€¦Cardinal jump out to a huge half time lead both games, fall apart in 3rd and itā€™s a rock fight in fourth, you get it. Not much separation imo. All the games were decided late, I wonder what makes Stanford fold in the 3rd qtr of each game tbh.

I'm not mad at all at SC for this huge win! They came back from being down 18 to win, and that's impressive. I agree there were some bad calls that hurt Stanford, but that's not SC's fault.

Boy oh boy, I agree that play stoppage at the end when Boston fell was the worst. They obviously assumed she was hurt because she didn't pop right back up, but because she was just tired and hesitated Stanford missed out on a critical scoring opportunity with 5 on 4 numbers and THEN ended up getting nothing. That was so, so bad. But still, not SC's fault.
its happens alot for south caroline bad refs. i watch last year final four game refs helf south coroline in that one too. bad refs or power that be want it that way. any body watching can see in women's basketball they are teams refs help.

The huge difference was point guard Stanford doesn't have one. The way to beat them is to pressure them and make your free throws. Henderson was the total difference in the game if she was not back last night SC was not winning the game.

A tour of those teams that defeated SC last season.

No, I got that. I was just alluding to the fact that the Cardinal were the tourists and the Gamecocks were the hosts (which, IMO, proved to be a deciding factor that was fortuitous to SC). But we've already moved on to the next big game (with everyone hoping that this isn't the last big game that will be alliwed to take place this season).

Same thing with Tennessee before the season started back in the summer it was obvious that we needed a point guard with three point capability and a backup post player. We didn't get either and were making it ok at point guard not great, but getting by. The bigger and larger problem for Stanford game and the rest of the season is post play. We won huge the 16 minutes that Key played and we lost by a lot when she was on the bench. This looks like what will happen all season not having a quality backup center is our biggest problem.

You sound just like some other DUMBa$$$ complaining about our coach ! OH, OH, OH , wait ā€¦ā€¦ now I understandā€¦.. you are just quoting the real DUMBa$$$. ā€¦. But I thought it was only Kelly that he hated ?

I agreed with u 100% but u can make ur point without insult or name calling. There's ppl here who say some crazy things and I just ignored them because they not gona get to me. Maybe those ppl are fans from other teams.

Exactly. She had 2 steals and 5 uncalled fouls. Iā€™ve never seen officials allow someone to reach two hands across the ball handlers body and grab the ball. Thatā€™s a reach 100% of the time.
Ended up 20 turnovers to SC 7 turnovers. Stanford won the rebounding by 2 40 to 38 but that 13 turnover deficit was to much to overcome.

Cardosa has been relegated to the six minute backup to the backup. Looks like a lot of bench warming for her this season.
I guess that's the price the bench pays for Dawn's Death Row OOC schedule. Cardoso and the freshmen will likely see big minutes in alot of SEC games that SC will put away early.

Better players who want to transfer need to be watching this season very closely. Sure it looks like a great idea to jump on a loaded team.

But donā€™t you want to PLAY basketball while youā€™re in college? Lol.

Lots of players likely sitting and thinking really hard about the choices they made. I think weā€™ll start seeing some really, really talented players choosing schools you might not expect. Schools with young coaches and lots of minutes available.

Arizona is another team, they are so deep at the guard spot. Players like Love went from being the main option to hardly breaking the rotation. Paris Clark is going to do a lot of sitting for two seasons she likely doesnā€™t expect. Barnes has also shown sheā€™ll take anybody and recruit right over good players that have signed with her. Just like Geno and Cori Close.

Kids arenā€™t stupid. They see that too. Thatā€™s why Clark recommitted from UCLA so was surprised to see her choose a coach who is likely to do the same thing to her. If something better comes along Adia will bite.

Something Iā€™m learning to admire about Kellie. She seems most interested in improving and maintaining the roster she has. Not looking for the next best thing every 5 seconds.
