10 Best Knoxville Dining Experiences.

Had the wonderful opportunity to dine at Restaurant Linderhof. If you want a true European dining experience along with the best German food this side of the Atlantic, then its the place. Warning: dining will take you a looong time so be prepared. But that is the way Germans and Europeans dine. It is social time with dinner in the middle. Each dish is made to order and worth the time. The mashed potatos could be measured in not in ounces but in stories. A huge heaping of them drizzled with gravy. Dont pass on the sauerkraut either. There is nothing 'sour' about this kraut - delicious. We had the schnitzel sampler and the rouladen. You can taste that these arent American recipe copies - they are authentic. All with Spaten. To add to the ambiance, a strolling accordian player. Only in Knoxville will you hear the polka version of Rocky Top. Priceless.

Gunther is the most underrated chef in Knoxville.

speaking of chains....I hear that Ruth's Chris is about to pull the string on the Knoxville location. Now this coming from the servers around town but if true, I think this would be the first one to close/fail nationwide (could be very wrong here). I found it odd when they started doing lunch with discount prices.

I wouldn't be shocked.

If I'm remembering correctly, it has something to do with the lease on the building. They do alright business, but I think rent went up. Not positive on that though.

I think there Locale hurts them. That place would do alot better out west somewhere. Alot of people, i have found, doesn't even know that its in town.

That location is cursed. I liked Riverside Grill or whatever and it didnt make it either. It bothers me not to see it go. I would rather a local rest take over.

Bayou Bay is garbage if you've ever had good cajun food down in Louisiana. I make a better jambalaya at home.

Imagine that! Cajun food is better in Louisiana than Knoxville. That's hard to believe! Thanks for the insight.

Bayou Bay isn't the best in the world, but its the best in the knoxville area.

Best in Knoxville area probably, but no where near the top 10 best places to eat in knoxville

Gerst Haus Nashville TN

I wouldnt know. After seeing Buffalo Wings on a 'German' menu I decided not to go back. Great atmosphere, good beer but that's it. If their polka band is playing RT they must be trying to expand their repertoire.

You never eat the food at the Gerst Haus. It's terrible.

Linderhof suffers from being stuck in the old run-down Ingle's graveyard, but it is a great place to eat authentic German fare. Come hungry, with time to eat.

1. Nama(Gay Street Location). Big city quality sushi at Knoxville prices.
2. Savelli's. Quaint, cozy restaurant with magnificent Italian fare.
3. Chandler's. Simply the best soul food restaurant in the state of Tennessee.
4. The Bistro at the Bijou. Underrated and overlooked gem with the best special board in Knoxville.
5. Ye Olde Steakhouse. Every bit as good as the hype.
6. Bayou Bay. Authentic cajun cusine served by the nicest staff in Knoxville.
7. Patrick Sullivan's. The best prime rib in Knoxville.
8. Harby's Pizza. The best pie in town.
9. Pete's Coffee Shop. The only place to have breakfast downtown.
10. Copper Cellar(Either Location). Always consistent and classy.

Not necesarily my picks (although many of them would be on it), but I can confirm this is a solid list.
