Northshore Brasserie has some good French food, ice cream, a good Sunday brunch (not quite as good as Cappuccino's), and some of the best coffee I have ever had. Really can't stress that enough if you love coffee. Way better than blue mountain imo. It's some type of Dutch coffee.
Zhu Garden on N. Peters in the stripmall with the lingerie store is the best Thai food I have found in Knoxville.
I drove past the one in Knoxville the other day and there was literally a traffic jam in the parking lot. People were stuck sitting in there cars all up and down the parking lot. Someone told me they had to wait 2 hours for a table one evening. It's absurd.

Palma De Oro is pretty good. It's in Powell next to Chili's. The guy who owns it, I believe, used to manage the Monterrey's on Merchants' Drive.
Great prices, not much in the way of atmosphere, but food arrives quick and hot. Highly recommend their pollo jalisco, but everything I've tried has been excellent.
1. Nama(Gay Street Location). Big city quality sushi at Knoxville prices.
2. Savelli's. Quaint, cozy restaurant with magnificent Italian fare.
3. Chandler's. Simply the best soul food restaurant in the state of Tennessee.
4. The Bistro at the Bijou. Underrated and overlooked gem with the best special board in Knoxville.
5. Ye Olde Steakhouse. Every bit as good as the hype.
6. Bayou Bay. Authentic cajun cusine served by the nicest staff in Knoxville.
7. Patrick Sullivan's. The best prime rib in Knoxville.
8. Harby's Pizza. The best pie in town.
9. Pete's Coffee Shop. The only place to have breakfast downtown.
10. Copper Cellar(Either Location). Always consistent and classy.
sigh...I had to try it for myself. 147 bucks for two people at The Melting pot. I finally gave in and decided to go try it for the experience...
A gourmet chef preparing a meal costing 150 bucks is fairly reasonable, considering for that price you can travel most of the US and get a meal for that price tag from some of the top chefs in the nation.
Heres what I disliked (but also KNEW I was gonna dislike). Cooking my food, most of which turned out burned or didnt have much flavor to begin with.
Also I've had better Spinach Cheese dip at Aubreys...
and Shrimp Ceviche is 100 times better at Nama...
Chocolate fondue was good, but I found out at home I was able to make a better chocolate fondue variant...
Just IMO everything coulda been better elsewhere. I went in knowing that I may dislike cooking the meats myself (tho I'm not historically opposed to doing this at other places....The Butcher Shop was fun when i was younger)

I keep hearing good things about it. With the Smokies on the road tomorrow, I think I'll check it out. Finally made it down to Nicelys Tavern. Really good stuffed burger. They don't have a full bar yet. The menu us small but tasty. Prices not too bad. Good place to hang out on the patio and have a few cold ones

The menu is very small. No full bar. But a pretty good burger and Nicely is around to give the staff hell so all is good. All bottle beers at this point but I am guessing you could bring your own booze and no one would care. Some of the ladies that work there are very easy on the eyes.I keep hearing good things about it. With the Smokies on the road tomorrow, I think I'll check it out.

I am not going to link it but go to google and put in Nicely's tavern. Evidently, some tightwad got his panties ruffled by Kevin Nicely and he got put in his place. Then went home and blogged about it and got rolled again. All his buddies came to his defense but you don't want to pick a fight with the bull. Especially when you are a chicken little. Good read and insight into Kevin Nicely and what to expect. If you want your butt kissed and kind words, go somewhere else.
