'10 CA QB Chase Rettig

Why would Scroggins go to USC knowing Barkley will be the QB?

hes from LA, he likes USC, they offered him, and maybe he doesnt want to be the chosen one. they have a great history of putting people in the league, and they even have a backup qb in the league.

going to usc makes a lot of sense. i would do the same thing if i was him.

WOW, sounds like in interview we are now his two after BC. And like many said we should not let Scroggins set this timetable and should have offered a week ago. I hope we can still get him.

With his recent camp performances as well as a UT and USC offer, I think it's possible but not likely.

you forgot that part. this quarterback class has been set out for awhile now and it hasn't had any significant jumps that i can recall to date.

a move up in the rankings is definitely in store, but i just don't see a leap into the top 10.

I guess all those guys sitting on the bench get as much exposure as the starters, hollywood style

If Barkley's as good as advertised, he will probably go pro after his junior year, which would be 2011. Scroggins could go to USC and redshirt as a freshman in 2010, backup Barkley in 2011, and compete for the starting job as a redshirt sophomore in 2012.

I think this is what PC is probably selling Scrogs, but it just seems like yesterday when Carroll was pissed when Sanchez declared for the draft.

I see what you're saying but I think the fact that it is the off-season has a lot to do with the rankings being static right now. Surely the favorable evaluations, real and potential college offers, as well as an invitation to the UA game mean people see high-caliber talent in the guy.

i thought arron (sp*) corp had the starting job? If he does keep the starting job barkley will stay for his senior year

Sorry to be behind on things, but I was just told that we offered Rettig, and that JS was going to USC. Is this right?
If so, I sure hope it works out. Rettig has apparently got a really strong arm, and he's faster than JS.

It is only speculated that JS is going to USC at this point, but chatter picked up a bit today. It is true that we offered Rettig. Also, Tommy Rees committed to ND.

I'm trying to catch up with Casey Clausen for interview, i'm fairly sure he's Chase's QB coach as well as Nick Montana's.

That's the biggest reason right there, and the fact they are a national powerhouse.

The fact they've been on top in the PUSS 10 for several years, a weak conference and they seem to go to a BCS bowl every year makes them a national powerhouse.

Our coaches are like managers who've been successful at other companies uniting to start a new corporation. They have great resumes, but they're wanting you to invest all your money in them. Do you feel comfortable giving them all your money or would you feel safer investing in a proven success like McDonalds or Walmart (a USC type school)?

It could seem like too big a risk for Scrogs or some other kids

Or that they've been to a bcs bowl game for the past 4 seasons, and they're 13-3 against top 25 teams since 01... I'd say that ranks them as a powerhouse

I can't stand USC. A lot of it does stem from the fact that they're PAC 10, but to downplay their success with Carroll in recruiting, NFL drafts, or on the field is ludacris.

So what you're saying is they avg playing 2 teams a year in the top 25. WOW. And they've lost 3 of them
