im not going to wish Scroggins the worst of luck. but i wont wish him the best of luck either. point in case: he is not a vol. he will never clad the orange and white or the power T. he will never be associated with the likes of Manning. he will never run through the T, celebrate to Rocky Top, take part in the Vol walk, or play in front of 100,000 fans, clad in orange screeming his name playing in the best conference in the country.

he was given an oppurtunity so few earn. he was given an oppurtunity many would give the world for. no, UT is not what it once was, but no matter how far we have fallen, there are teams out there that sincerely fear the rise of UT again. Scroggins had the chance to be a part of that, to make it happen.

if he does well at SC then thats fantastic for him and his family and all his dreams will have come true. i personally, owe him nothing.

I agree.

I am sorry but I am not going to congratulate him. How many of you were thinking following the UCLA loss last year "Oh they did wonderful. Congrats to them". You probably started cussing and got sloppy drunk. I bet the people saying we should congratulate him wouldn't feel the same if he had chosen Florida, Georgia, Alabama etc. This was a hit to the program for the time being. We lost Rettig because of him. Sure it was also the staffs fault but this kid was the only 4 star quarterback to draw out the process this long. We are no going to struggle to land top wide receivers and linemen. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose Milton over this. If we lose Milton.... the day we lose Milton, I am going to drink to the point of wetting my bed when I pass out. You'll see, you'll all see!

:eek:lol:

and people are b**ching on a internet site....just sayin

That's what sports are about. You're happy when you win and pissed off when you lose. This isn't church buddy. Sorry but we aren't your children. You can lecture but don't be surprised when someone tells you to shut up.

For picking a team with so much depth at quarterback... I honestly won't feel bad for Scroggins if he never sees the field. His family is hurting on money and he picks the school where he will get one year at most to showcase himself to the NFL. The funny thing, USC will probably get a five star quarterback next year and Scroggins will be screwed.

Honestly, I know he is just a kid but if he isn't smart enough to realize he may never see the field at USC and picks them anyways... did we really want this kid make decisions at quarterback for us?

I am still going to watch ESPN today or check online following but at this point I don't even care about UT not getting him if that's the case. Tennessee will land a quarterback next year after Tennessee wins 8 or 9 games and Kiffin shows the quarterbacks that even Crompton looks good in his system. :p

Great post... this is exactly why our staff should move on and never look back on Scroggins.

Mods should close this or it will be a trash fest. And what if we are still going after this kid.

amen. once i came to terms with the fact that he was going to pick usc a couple days ago, i first thought, "man we are screwed." but i had a thought, and i'm semi-calm about the situation now. if we see success on the field this year (particularly crompton) i think maybe we can lure a quarterback who has already committed away from another school... maybe scroggins. who knows. but i can guarantee tennessee football will be great again pretty soon, regardlesss of what happens with this class ha

Agree with allvol. I'm still waiting to see what happens. He may be ready to shock the world. This could be Kiffin's ultimate statement that nobody knows what he's going to do. I would love to see even our own newspaper send out texts saying he's going to SC, and then him turn right around and pick UT. And now, I wouldn't even be surprised if it happened? I hope for it with nothing to lose. If I'm wrong, and he goes to USC, well, everyone expected it. But if I'm right, and he comes to UT, then we have the biggest shocker of the century.

He may believe that, but I don't. It might be a good thing he's making a big deal out of this announcement, because that might be the only publicity he ever gets signing with USC.
This would've been a huge dig to uproot this guy from USC's backyard (20 min from campus) and childhood fan.

As for his future, Cassel sat 4+ years in college (another 3 or so in NFL) and recently signed a 6 yr $63 M contract; Mark Sanchez sat 3 years and started one - 5th pick overall $$$; Matt Leinart, Carson Palmer?

His future appears to be bright, IMO.

Good Luck to him.

Scroggins is nothing if hes not a VOL. Nothing. So im not going to wish him any luck, but I do hope he sits on the pine for 4 years.

I've never liked the Cassel example. That was lucky. He was also drafted by the same staff that drafted Tom Brady. That's all I need to know. Most teams won't draft someone if they had never stepped foot on the field at the college level. The Patriots seem to be the exception. They have an eye for quarterbacks.

New Myspace status: "announcemnt today at 3 on espn..sorry for the change"

Reference is in EST instead of PST, which would be 12:00... Interesting to say the least.

I will not wish anyone not wearing the power T on the side of their helmet luck or congrats.
I wish he would have went to Florida rather than USC so that when Jac Smith comes off the edge and blind sides him.

Exactly.

ha! its actually a nicer response than i expected. but please, spare me. if he had committed to Flordia, the VolNation website would have imploded. everyone would say he was stupid for believing CUM or riding the pine or bla bla bla. heck, lets theorize here. lets say he went to Bama. the news would be littered with articles about Vol fans who threw themselves off cliffs and JS would be the biggest fool EVER!

so before you criticize me for not offering him the best of luck for chosing another school, think about what you and 3/4 of VolNation would be saying if he chose UF...

I will never, for the life of me, understand grown men and women wishing bad things on an 18 year old kid just because he didn't want to go to Tennessee. I mean it's one thing to be bummed he didn't choose us, but to wish ill will on the kid? Why don't we do that for every single prospect coming out of high school? Jesus, people, get a life.
