'10 DE T.J. Stripling

Ahhhhh this thread has made me realize that recruiting for 2010 has just begun. Sit back and watch the true fireworks.

The Georgia guy i know who seems th emost reliable when it comes to recruiting is very confident of keeping hold of guys like Stripling,Ogletree etc. despite this down year that there is only 2 soft commits and that everyone is solid. So it will be a real battle to take him away from them

It'll also help that their recruiting coordinator will be moving up to defensive coordinator at the end of the season, leaving someone else to do all of the work he did previously. He was pretty good too. Kiffin wanted him.

There is no way Gardner gets the DC job. Richt has to go outside the staff.

UGA will try and make a name hire. I don't see anyway they could give that job to Garner. I think Auburn and a few others will come after him. But at the end of the day I think he will still be in Athens. But he will get a few dollars out of the deal....

Eventually they have to get tired of this.

I agree with the bolded portion. I just see too much of Fulmer in Richt to think that he will absolutely go outside of his staff. Should happen, but will it?

Sab, LV,
What do you all think the chances are Garner leaves if he doesn't get that job?

Also have you heard about TJ scheduling any visits?

Just a guess, but considering his flirting with other programs historically I would say pretty good. It may take more to hold onto him than UGA is willing to spend. There's no question he's an integral part o UGA's recruiting success.

looks like we may get visit from TJ. This was his stats and a quote from his coach this Friday....

Southwest Dekalb Assistant Coach Wimes said that against Marist T.J. had "10 tackles, five for losses, and three sacks." For the year he's at "18 sacks, at least 15 tackles for losses, and 70-80 tackles." "We swap him some, but we do 3-4 and 4-3, but sometimes he's dropping and sometimes hes rushing. Sometimes he even plays outside linebacker as well." When asked about other visits, the coach said "He might visit Tennessee and Ohio State." "T.J., even with AAU basketball he hasn't traveled a lot. He loves Georgia."

I am curious with UGA now. I heard we might get a visit now also. We also had Garrison Smith in town last week and that came by surprise.

I think if TJ goes elsewhere that UT might be in good shape to get him. I do not see him leaving to far from home and I think the SEC is where he will play.

Garrison Smith went to the Bama game last week to support a high school friend on the Bama team. He is a SOLID commitment to GA.

Stripling will likely visit other schools, but I will be surprised if he ends up signing with a school other than UGA.
While Garner is integral to recruiting, he is actually not the DE coach.

From a guy who talks with these players quite often, in his opinion the only guys who may waver are a couple of FL guys, and even these, he thinks will end up signing with UGA.

I really like both of those players. I like Whittaker also. TJ, Thornton and Quarles? Sweet sassy molassy that would be incredible.
