A top of the class kicker can make our team much better. Just having a guy of Palardy's caliber will give us better defensive field position, and allow us to have the opportunity to get points on every drive, even when we stall around the 35 yard line.

The good thing about this is that even if he goes to LSU, we still have a pretty darn good Plan B with Acosta.

I hope we get him though!

That's an excellent point. I want this kid very badly, but if we were to miss out on him, Corey Acosta would be a great fall back guy.

I can say that I really want Palardy as a Vol, but I'd be very proud as a CBHS grad to have Acosta suiting up in Orange and White. Hopefully with both Acosta and Chris Walker, we can create a pipeline through CBHS!

Anybody else notice Chris Carter on his sideline, as the WR coach? Soon as we have an opening, could you imagine having this guy on our staff in the same capacity? Think we'd have an edge in the SEC for recruiting WR's?

This, Palardy kid WILL start as a true freshman...no problem. Think of the importance of KNOWING dangerous return men can't get their hands on the ball. That's money! :good!: Monte will love this kid.

I lol'd at Christ Carter.

And IIRC he's coaching WRs there because his son either graduated last year from there or will next year.

Wouldn't be too many SEC HC's laughing if we got him on our staff. The guy is a Hall of Famer, and would be worth CEO's salary, IMO. With him and Eddie Gran recruiting Fl...once again, money!

I know who Cris Carter is. I'm laughing at the fact you called him Christ.

And how can you say he's worth the top assistant salary in the game without ever coaching a college or pro game before? A lot of times the best players are some of the crappiest coaches, and the worst players are the best coaches, ..etc. And he hasn't proven anything recruiting wise. He may get some players, he may not. Who knows.

Oops...you're right. I didn't notice the typo.

Maybe not quite what CEO makes initially, but there's no doubt to his value, as a recruiter, when you have a Hall of Fame NFL player (who has some coaching experience...and hopefully aspires to continue coaching). He also does some NFL analyst work (can't remember which broadcasting Co.).
You're right about it not being an automatic thing, but if he CAN indeed coach, think of how much value he offers in recruiting in Florida alone! Under Fulmer, it was tough as nails to get FL players here. With him and Eddie Gran covering FL, Coach O and Coach Wilson covering La, and CLK and Coach Cregg covering CA...that's an impressive pipeline to 3 talent rich states.
If you think about it...the AD spends, what $2 mill+/yr just for Recruiting expenses. If you have a successful team with as many NFL coaches/former players on staff, you don't have to travel as much, when you can hit your targets early. I just think having him on staff would represent a HUGE ROI for the AD

I believe he said before summer football but not for a couple weeks.

Thats good IMO, because he just got back from a visit to LSU that sounds like he loved it.

Coach Conrad wrote on TOS that he is deciding this week.

If big time QB prospects attract other Offensive recruits, I wonder if it helps with Defensive players knowing they have a "Money" kicker on board. It makes their life/job a whole lot easier knowing they have the offense pinned on their own end (20) with every kickoff.

I HIGHLY doubt that any big time defensive recruit ever thinks "I'll go there cause they have a stud kicker", but I like where your heads at.

WOW, This guy is a game changer ! Imagine consistently kicking the ball to the goal line or in most cases through the end zone (virtually eliminating your oppositions return game) not to mention making 50 yard field goals seem routine instead of a big gamble. This guy has the ability to change a game like EB.Does anyone know if he has visited us or if he plans too? I assume he has seeing as how he has UT and LSU as his final two.

As far as I know, he has visited.

I didn't mean to the extent it does having a big name QB prospect helps with WR's, but wonder if it doesn't help in some small measure for a defensive prospect to know that a big time kicker is on board...one who boots the kickoff past the endzone on a regular basis.

Not as big as you're making it to be.
