This kid will go to Tenn if offered. He has grown up a Tenn fan his whole life and his family are BIG BIG Tenn supporters. Trust me I know but I don't believe this is the QB Tenn needs.

"Iowa is my No. 1 school and they are going to be tough to beat. They have impressed me tremendously. It will be hard for someone to beat Iowa for me. I just love coach (Kirk) Ferentz and his staff. They will be there for my career. He's not leaving and playing time is wide open. Iowa is a great place. I have family there and it is really a home away from home."

"I will finish this off and see where I stand with everyone. Now, teams like Tennessee are starting to recruit me hard. I have been hearing from them a lot and I have talked with coach (Jim) Chaney. He wants me to come up to camp with them (this month) but I just couldn't work it out. Right now I would say I could have a decision sometime in mid-July."

"Tomorrow I head to North Carolina where I will visit N.C. State, North Carolina and East Carolina. I think I could get offers from N.C. State and ECU and there's a good chance UNC could offer me soon. Then on Monday I will check out Troy."

Something about his comments bug me... I'd like to grab this kid bc of his size, and his mechanics seem to be very serviceable.

sounds like with Tennessee re-entering the picture, he has applied the brakes to an announcement.

They are on me pretty hard right now. I have heard from Coach Thompson a lot in recent weeks. I am very impressed with the staff and recruiting class they are putting together up there. They are telling me they are going to bring in 2 quarterbacks. I think I could be one of those.

Interesting for sure. I guess he could be the second QB to go along with any of these guys. Scroggins, Rettig, or Rees. Hopefully he would be #2 to Scroggins or Rettig. All I know is these next few weeks is going to be interesting.

that's what I've been saying for 2 months big guy. Leinart was a 3* as well...

Whoa! I didn't realize Leinart was a 3*. Seriously? I knew McCoy and Bradford were, but Lienart. Wow!

BTW, Jacob Hester at LSU, now in the pros was a 2*.

Sorry, now back to Mason.

Scroggins will commit to UT, which will likely cause USC to offer Rettig. That would leave Rees as the second option. Mason would be there if Rees does not pane out. By the way, I like Mason better than Rees!

I think the fact that we are revisiting Mason now may be very telling where we stand with Scroggins.

I think you are right Eric. When it's all said and done, I see Scroggins going to USC due to proximity. I believe we offer Rettig and hopefully he commits. We are currently looking at our options at #2, which is the reason we are talking to Mason again.

You guys maybe right. We are buying some insurance, and trying not to put eggs all in the Scroggins basket.

Yeah, that just about wraps it in a pretty bow for me, Scroggins is not UT-bound. The only other option is unless he is just truly undecided and it comes down to the eleventh hour on July 24th before he really chooses the school himself. If that's the case, or if they already know where they stand in the commitment, then it looks like our staff is simply preparing for handing out two openings for Rettig/Rees/Mason to jump on.
