'10 GA QB Hutson Mason

You are providing misleading or wrong information to a number of folks that don't have the ability to verify what you claim. You are correct that Gwinett Co has a number of top schools in football, (parkview esp) but last year was different. Mason threw for 3700 yards and 30 TD's 70% completion. He missed the all time state record for single season passing yards by 5 yards. Region 6 AAAAA had 4 teams in the top 10 rankings at some point during the year. Lassiter being one of them. The competition is very good and has been improving steadily. Walton, Roswell, Milton and Lassiter were all good teams last year. Lassiter played Etowah in the first round of the playoff the top team from 5 AAAAA beat them then lost to No. Gwinett in the 2nd round. Hutson had right at 300 yards aginst No. Gwinett. Just because most folks that live in the area are well to do financially is no reflection on the brand of football. It is the largest classification in GA and even though they don't have a number of state champions in football they are always competitive. 5AAAAA and 6AAAAA were one and the same for many years as 5AAAA but with the large growth of the metro area and new schools in these areas they had to divide up. Mason and Lassiter beat McEachern in pre season handily so they played a difficult schedule It is not like private school schedule as you described. Mason is the real deal! He is the most competitive player I've watched in some time and he is willing to work his tail off for the team. Coach Bobo of UGA stated and I repeat, " Hutson, it is obvious you can play at SEC level you have all the tools". I was standing there when he uttered these words. I don't know about you but I think this coach knows a little something about evaluating QB's. I'll tell you later some of the reasons Hutson has not had "all the offers" some of the others have had. UT continues to speak with him and he is still considering all his options at this time. Go Vols!

Welcome to the board. :hi:
Post often.

Jew, while you may "know" 5A football down there, it's pretty obvious that it's still the best class there. Just because you don't play the top schools doesn't mean anything. Hutson is a fall back guy obviously, but I like his attitude and the tools he has.

The talent pool is getting alot more shallow this year in Gwinnett. They are opening up more high schools and splitting up the districts.

Eric just to let you know telling that kid to post often is priceless can only hope you are being nice to a young one. He corrected his spelling of Gwinnett btw and still got it wrong as "Gwinett." Like I just said it does not matter if you are in top class if you play weakest teams.

It is difference of WAC and SEC that example sums it up best. Sorry your guy is not the best guy for the second QB dude.:hi:

Archer opens this year and it pulls from Grayson I believe and Brookwood should be interesting.

If you say so, but I don't trust any talent evaluator on this site, including myself. I just speculate. :good!:

Wooh there cowboy don't play that card with me. I am not a talent evaluator. I know the difference between WAC competition and SEC competition just like many on this site. And that is exactly what we are talking about. I can look at a guy and say hey his ball floats yes. Or he is accurate. Anyone can. Objectively without need to be a super good eval expert.

And just because you have no substantive response to the facts about GA football I have laid out does not mean I get labeled an eval guy. :p

I'm not trying to be a d-bag but have you ever talked to the guy been around him much to know what his attitude is like?

If he is happy wearing a baseball hat for 5 years on the sideline, then he should hold out for an SEC school to offer.

"No he shouldn't. Iowa is terrible in a very weak Big 10."

The Big 10 may or may not be 'down' the past few years, but it is simply not factual to say that Iowa is "terrible". As of now, Iowa is coming off what was by far a better year than Tennessee, including a 9-4 record, the Doak Walker award winner, a coveted head coach, five draft picks, and a New Years Day obliteration of a South Carolina squad that, as we all know, the Vols were smacked around by.

Whether or not the Vols ought to offer Mason is another issue, but to act as if Iowa is "terrible" is silly.

Right now, like it or not, Iowa is a better football team than Tennessee. Recruiting accessibility/propensity for Ferentz and Kiffin is, however, an entirely different matter altogether.

Please don't use college conferences to compare HS divisions. It's been proven more than recently that it doesn't matter what conference you are belong to in college, because parity exists in college football more than HS football.

WOW....speechless I am....So you are trying to prove my point? Take a step back read what you said.

I did. Did you mean talent and not competition, because that's what I took from it.

I was saying that if you are saying that there is less parity in high school sports then college football. Then you have bolstered my message that the fact Mason plays in what is an objectively a weaker division with in 5A high school league, leads to the conclusion his numbers are very very inflated. That plus the guy telling us they don't run at all and we are talking Hawaii here.
