I wouldn't be too concerned about taking these guys, assuming there's no one better we can get. If these guys can't cut it they'll leave in a year or two and the scholly will be there for a better player.

It really isn't that difficult to see.

You have seen nothing. All you see is offers. You have no idea whether he could be good or not. FYI, Dooley coached with Saban. Saban fills out his rosters with all available talent. If he recruits over someone, he quietly removes them from the roster. Let him do his job.

That is absolutely not what Saban does and it's certainly not what is going to be done here. I know plenty. How many people have you spoken to that have seen this guy play? My guess is none. I have spoken with several.

This isn't LAtech where you can bring in guys that are under-recruited and hope something sparks in them and they become serviceable players. Sapp is not SEC-caliber from everything I have heard from everyone that has watched him play. There is a reason we are days away from Signing Day and the kid only has two offers -- the best one to Illinois.

This class is filling out, but it is a lot of fluff. We need to fill our needs on the OL and the DL rather than bringing in crappy players that no one good wants and is not even a position of need.

So, you've spoken to someone that's seen him play and that's all you need to know. I've not spoken with Dooley and Lance Thompson but they've seen him play. They apparently feel that he is capable. That's good enough for me. We will sign 4-5 OL and 2 DTs. That's plenty of OL and we'll have to focus on DTs next year.

It's amazing to me that some people think they know more than our coaches with very limited info.

Amen. This was my concern all along with the 3 weeks CDD had. That he'd fill out the roster with Nick Reveiz-types...who should have to EARN their scholarships rather than be given them.

Also, note that I never said he could play. I have no clue. Just like you. I trust Thompson and Dooley.

Check how many guys have transferred out of Alabama in the past couple years.

Solid argument. Dooley should never fill out the roster with guys that are like the best MLB on our team last year. That would be a disaster.

Dooley is known as an elite talent evaluator accdg to those he has worked with..i will listen to him over some parents or fans in the stands

I don't know jack about this kid but there are not many DBs available right now and we need another safety in case Loften doesn't make it in or either he or Sapp goes to LB.

What I am seeing is we are getting guys that can play multiple positions which is huge for depth...another key is Dooley demands excellent special teams and he may see these as guys that can immediately improve that area with increased depth..who knows besides Dooley...but I trust him over randoms

I agree. Why is he different than Crump? Crumps offers are not as good as Sapps.

I think Crump and Sapp will be on the outside looking in on NSD, I could be wrong but I don't know if either is solidly on the roster as of right now...

Considering the number of LBs that we are bringing in and the shortage of DTs, I'm beginning to wonder again if we aren't planning on running a 3-4 defense.

Yet the Crump kid gets a pass. I don't understand the difference in Crump and Sapp. Neither has offers up to par. Just asking... GBO

I've spoken to several people that have seen him play and I've seen many more reviews. We aren't talking some little town in Tennessee here where a guy can easily be overlooked. The guy played at Valdosta. If he could play, he'd have offers.

We turned away MUCH better players this year.

Watch that TE they have though. That guy is really special.

Safety is an easy position for one to get overlooked, IMO.

So, the people you've talked to are more qualified to judge talent than Dooley and Thompson? If you believe that, then I'm ok with what you are saying.

We have two spots left and 3 more likely better commits coming. Who is a sign and place? Is Sapp possible a sign and place? Jones? Is Ralph officially gone yet? It is looking like 5-7 class not bad considering.

And you know that Dooley and Thompson think Sapp is a great player? How do you know that? How do you know what their opinion is about him?

It's not even clear right now that the Vols are going to take his commitment from what I am hearing.

I said I know nothing about him. If he commits to play for UT, then they think he is SEC caliber. It's that simple. You can spin what you're "hearing" all you want, but Hubbs is reporting that he's a commit.

I think it's safe to say they are. Crump was premature, Sapp isn't.

We don't even know what Dooley can do on the field yet. Might as well group Kiffin in with that as well, great recruiter and lousy coach.

The jury is still out on the coaching abilities of Dewlee and Junior.

My point is that The Fired Coach spent too much time filling classes with average talent. You can't do that in this league anymore.

Obviously, anyone can surprise and turn out to be a great player... it happens everywhere.

I know... I know... stars ratings are not the end-all of a recruits ability, but let's just say I wasn't giving any high fives over two verbals from Sapp and Propst.

I could be dead wrong. However, the last 48 hours -- especially the Ausmus decision -- has not left me with that warm, fuzzy feeling.
