Markeith Ambles (McDonough, Ga./Henry County) looked dominant at times during the camp and talked about his recruitment. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder said that at the moment, Southern California is recruiting him as hard as anyone and he has plans to see Los Angeles twice during the month of June.
"We are going out there for a visit," he said. "And then I am coming back for their rising stars camp later in June."
Ambles also said that besides the Trojans, Florida is recruiting him hard. He plans to make it down to Gainesville in July for the Gators' Friday Night Lights Camp at The Swamp.
Bama is in on Markeith pretty hard. Supposedly he slept with a coach's wife or something when he was 15. That's the rumor going around. Schools that aren't offering him have cited off the field issues, but I am unaware of any.
The Big-Out-There-Rumor:
Supposedly, he slept with an older woman when he was 15.
The rumor doesn't detail if she was a teacher, but he transferred from Griffin HS to McDonough HS. One rumor says he was expelled from Griffin, thus the teacher insinuation/connection, but another says he was expelled for cheating, none of which can be confirmed with facts or news links.
Unsure if he isn't getting the Georgia offer because of rumors of lying to police for the chick, and/or not being honest with Richt's staff about any of these issues (ie: lying, cheating, expulsions,etc..), but most point to Georgia not offering as the big red flag. Others think , "So what? He slept with an older woman. Who wouldn't have at 15?"
In Georgia, I think a female adult having sex with an under aged boy is a Class II felony, can get you up to 50 years in prison which could explain why someone would cover for his hot date if this rumor has even a hint of truth.
Ambles himself says he has a GPA of 2.9 and an 18 on the ACT so grades don't appear to be the issue.
Take all of this with a grain of salt
"Tennessee is up there pretty good," Ambles said. "I don't have a leader and haven't narrowed it down, but I like Tennessee. I like coach (Lane) Kiffin. I like that he is a young guy and that helps him relate well to his players. With him it seems different than older coaches and Tennessee seems like a cool school."
