'10 JUCO WR Kenbrell Thompkins

Also signing an LOI has nothing to do with if he is an EE or not. As long as he make the grades he can enroll with the in coming frosh.

In this instance, if Hubbs said that. He is wrong.

He needs a release from Tennessee.

Thompkins did sign and while he wasn't eligible for EE if he meets the requirements this semester and during summer then he is bound to his LOI to Tennessee.

Unless it is released by Tennessee.

At this point, there is a lot of confusion as to what the final outcome will be.

You've got to believe that Meline will move to DB...there's just too much depth at WR and not enough quality at DB

I think it is certainly possible. I think he likes playing WR, but probably wants to get on the field early and that's why he will probably switch.

Where is he in class at?

I'm sure that I am reading too much in to this, but does anyone think KT's release may be dependant on whether or not DaRick Rogers qualifies?

Brent Hubbs said on the radio last night that UT is not pursuing Thompkins and that goes back to the Kiffy days. Says THompkins would love to be a Vol but he didn't make it gradewise enough to early enroll, he didn't sign anything and since we signed DaRick and Hunter, we have no slot for him. End of story.

The 2 things I bolded are false.

1) He does not want to be a Vol.

2) Thompkins signed an LOI. He said he was supposed to hear something late last week from UT and be released, but it appears that hasn't happened.

Hubbs is severely misinformed here.

NCAA void his LOI? since when?

when have you seen that happen? seriously, I need examples?

on the NCAA eligibility hompe page it says a letter of intent is a binding contract. once u sign that paper, says the school only has the power to release you ... he's done!

the conditions have been met on Tennessee's end. he met eligibility requirements, we offered him his scholarship ..he's sh*t out of Luck.
LOI Rules

Dang Gunna you just hit the nail on the head with this one. It clearly says in the video that signing an LOI is a binding contract even if the coach leaves. The only way he can get out of it is if UT grants him a release and so far if they haven't done it yet they probably aren't going to which means he's committed to us. Like Gunna said he's SOL.

KT needs to quit being a baby. He should realize its a privalage to strap on the power T. If he's good as advertised, CCB will teach him the tools to be successful in the NFL. No better place to shine than in the SEC.

^ I agree VB I was thinking the same thing about how I hope he's SOL so we can keep him! haha The only thing is I'd hate for him to give half ass effort and stuff just b/c he doesn't wanna be here.

If he stays here, he doesn't have the luxury of half-a$$ing at this point in his career if he wants to get to the next level.

That's right! He's a VOL until UT says he isn't so he just needs to just strap on the UT gear and get to work!

This. I don't see where all the misinformation about KT is coming from. The ONLY reason he chose UT to begin with IMO was Kiffin. A friend at UT I consider trustworthy keeps telling me there was a small grade issue, but mainly KT just assumed he would be released after the coaching change no questions asked to go wherever he wanted to. He is a serious talent, but hasn't handled his situation very well at all. I, for one, would shut up, show up, and learn all I could from Mr. Baggett in hopes of turning out anything like his previous pupils.

I think the NCAA is trying to void his LOI so it does not effect him considering the circumstances... If the rule does not change he sits a year..

That's just laughable. The NCAA will not void his LOI. The only party that can dissolve a LOI is the school. Read up on the rules...anything you have heard contrary to him still being a Vol and UT having to release him is a complete fabrication.

He's never going to play a down here. I'd love to be wrong about that, but there's hardly any scenario realistically where he just says "oh, okay I'll play for Tennessee" and suits up next season. These things sometimes just take a while to get done, I would bet on it being over with sometime next month.

No one I have seen is saying he will play for the Vols next season. The point several of us are trying to make is that he IS in fact a Vol right now. Can't just say oopsie on the LOI and take it back.
