'10 KY FB Channing Fugate

Fugate carried the ball 24 times for 251 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-25 loss to Prestonburg on Friday night. On defense, he picked off two passes on the night.

one man army.

Great numbers. That is what I am talking about!!!!!!!

He had a disappointing week prior, but came back with a vengeance. Great to hear.

The guys team is pretty bad this year and he is the centerpiece of both the offense and defense. His numbers won't be anywhere near what they were last year but everything you read about him says that he is one of the most aggressive tough guys in this signing class. I've read a few things where coaches suggest that his best fit may be at linebacker in college. To me he looks like a more athletic Nick Reveiz. Of course he would have to do a ton of work in the weight room and show a ton of heart to ever become another Nick.

Senior running back Channing Fugate scored five touchdowns to lead the host Bobcats (4-5) to their third straight victory after a disappointing start to the season.
Fugate, a University of Tennessee commitment and pre-season favorite for Mr. Football honors, ran 12 times for 141 yards and four scores. He also caught two passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. His scores accounted for the first five touchdowns of the game for Breathitt County, which led 42-6 at halftime.

He will make a nice fullback. I am loving how Kiffin throws it to them alot, and having another one who can run will only help. Will prolly RS tho.

IMO, depends on how fast he is. If he can run well, we may have him on special teams freshman year. If I'm not mistaken he plays some middle linebacker for his team too so he might be a guy that wouldn't be scared to bust someone on special teams.

He runs plenty fast enough....check out his video. Even though his competition is not strong, you can tell he is really moving and has an extra gear when needed.

IMO the guy is perfect FB for CLK.
If your watching USC vs ND, watch Stanley Havivi. the two are basically the same football player, very good hands, good speed, real physical...

Im hoping he comes in and plays FB from the jump. He will be a real weapon

Look for the wedge to be illegal in some rule changes soon. I am betting next year but who knows.

It already is illegal in the NFL to use more than 2 players in the wedge. I wouldn't be surprised if college follows suit.

Actually, Austin Johnson gives us that right now! He was an LB when recruited, converted to FB. Cooper is OK, but Johnson started showing flashes in the UGA game....made a few nice catches and made a key block on Hardesty's long TD run.
Love how he had the smarts to stop in the hole and catch the defender crashing in down the LOS. That little move saved it from being a short gainer. CLK praised him in the interview after the game.

Fugate and Austin seem cut out of the same mold, IMHO. Fugate looks to be a better pure runner, though. I can see CLK dialing up a lot of plays for him...a bunch of teams are going to underestimate this kid....until they seem him running down the sideline, that is. :)

Johnson was both in HS and was a better FB than LB in the eyes of most schools. In fact, he was projected as a RB/FB coming out of HS by Rivals. I'm not sure where you are getting this converted stuff, but you are wrong in this case.

Johnson was rated as a 5.7 LB all the way up until their final rankings. They moved him to a 5.5 FB after he played the Shrine Bowl. That's where he's probably getting it.

I just remember him being listed as a LB...just like Steven Fowlkes was listed as a DE, but was given a look at WR first (he was really thin...still is), once he got here. He quickly went back to DE.

Channing's team advanced to round 2 of the class AAA playoffs. I do not have any other stats except he had touch down runs of 68 and 7 yards. I pretty much expect that his coach kept him on the side lines the 2nd half.

They have one more home game this Friday and then should travle to Somerset for round #3. Somerset is 45 minutes from my town so I will be there wearing my orange!
