'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

I'd like to see him after he gains those 15-20lbs. He may very well end up on the defensive side of the ball.

its not? he will not be a guy we throw the ball too in space (jones/nuke) to see what he can do
he should be big enough to not be affected too much by press coverage and as long as he can get open and catch the ball..that is all that matters

I expect his first shot will be at WR because he has major potential there but if his hands arent up to par I agree with Sab that this kid could have a bright future at Safety. He will be an impact player whereever he plays.

anyone think he could gain some weight and be like brandon warren, play tight end and flex out to the slot alot?

since when is 4.5-4.6 too slow to play receiver?

since people began playing video game football and believe that the only way a WR can be effective is to run in a straight line under 4.3 and dont consider that route running, being agile stop and start and being able to get off a jam make u super effective WR :ermm:

The best part of Cobbs is the upside. This kid is just pure raw potential right now. The right coaches and he might end up the best player in the class five years from now.

This is a write-up from Scout about the recent ESPN rise camp this past weekend. Cobbs made the Southwest Elite 8 of the camp and actually had the best performance of any player there. This is for those who don't think he can play WR...
Cobbs was one of many outstanding receivers on the Southwest team. While they had some other targets on his team who were just as highly regarded, I felt Cobbs had the best day out of all the receivers. He wasn't the tallest of the southwest receivers, but he was the most filled out, the strongest and the most physical. He shrugged off cornerbacks who tried to press him and outbodied them for the ball. He also went up and made a few tough grabs. Cobbs looked like he was ready to play on Saturdays now and should be a guy who contributes early in college.

He was the best WR at the camp. He wasn't going up against scrubs either. Here are some of the WRs who Cobbs beat: Justin McCay, Trovon Reed, and Darius White...

That's what I love about this kid, great ball skills, great athleticism, physical, just purely awesome. He's got all SEC written all over him.

Honestly I didn't see anything that great about the highlights. He didn't seem very fast and everyone on the field looked pretty small. Anyone know what division his school is? From the size of those kids it looks like 2A or something. Will trust the coaches because they know more than I. Just looking at the video though I only say one or two plays that looked impressive. I would be more excited about the idea of landing him if the team were to move him to safety or linebacker. He'd have to put on a little weight for linebacker but I don't see the appeal in him as a wide receiver. Jmo.

He's being recruited as a WR, he wants to play WR, and we need him to play at WR.

Why wouldn't he play at WR?

Some people are looking at his 4.7 forty time on Rivals and they're falling to pieces...

That being said, he could make a great safety. He's a very versatile player...

It depends if Tennessee can get Prater and keep Green. I don't see him beating out three of these guys....

09 Nu'keese, Rogers
10 Greene, Ambles, Milton, Prater

I didn't list Teague because I figure if Tennessee ends up with all of those guys they will move him to defense. I don't know why Tennessee would use Cobbs over Prater, Ambles, Milton and Nu'keese. We've heard good things about Rogers and Green could be awesome also. Probably just getting my hopes up for Prater. Still, this staff should stay on Green and take him if he has the grades. If him being 6-4 is true then that is awesome.

His vertical also isn't very good. I wasn't looking too much into his 40 although being a Titans fan and seeing Chris Johnson... having a good 40 doesn't hurt. I just didn't think he looked all that fast in his highlights. If he can run good routes and separate then it doesn't really matter. I'll take a possession receiver but I don't see him getting a lot of yards after the catch or burning anyone down field. I am not saying he won't or can't be a good receiver. I just didn't see anything special about his highlights.

Cobbs >>>>> Green. And physically he is more ready to play right now than Nuke or Ambles. He is a beast. Please see post #537 of how he just looked against Justin McCay, Darius White, and Trovon Reed...

I saw that and from his offer list I believe he is good. It's that the article even says "day". Maybe he's the best overall or maybe just had the best day. These are also practices/scrimmages. I admitted I could be wrong but I'm just going from his film. He didn't do anything special. Maybe he'll consistently make 10 yard catches but I'm guessing he won't break too many 40 yard plays off. Also, Nu'keese will be in his second year by the time Cobbs arrived and would most likely have game experience. Would make it hard for Cobbs to beat him out. Especially because Nuke is a burner. Nuke will probably always be a slot wide receiver looking at some of the other receivers coming in. Won't be easy to take the slot away from him. Milton/Ambles or Prater on the outside will also be hard to beat out. Kiffin loves height and Cobbs isn't as tall as these guys nor does he have a good vertical according to his numbers. His vertical is actually really really bad. Maybe he's just a good possession receiver that can get open like Boldin.

Anquan Boldin isn't a burner. He is the physical WR that gets position, breaks tackles & gets YAC because he is stronger & more physical. This is the kind of receiver he would have to mold his game after. Boldin isn't too bad a receiver

I'm not even gonna bother. This post is wrong on so many accounts. Cobbs is a stud...
