New article on TOS about hime. Says we are pretty much in his top three.
"I'm liking Tennessee a lot," Cobbs said with a laugh. "They are a lock for an official visit. If I had a top three they would be in that group. Once the season gets to rolling and I see how everything is going, I'll call the coaches after a loss to see how they handle adversity."
I had no idea we stood this good with him. This is some good news on what has kind of been a bad day..
Jewbaccah, do you think we can land cobbs without a 4 star qb in this class?
Yes. But it is a given with a Scroggins. If a recruit trust the coaches he will commit. If we sign a 3 star guy and say this guy is awesome the recruit will trust us. It is just sales. The problem is getting that trust. USC gets on reputation alone. We have to earn it right now on O. Monte is getting it on name alone.
Now-IMO-a guy like Scroggins might get us in the ear of guys who are not even listening like Prater. Either way Cobbs is probably top 5 WR in this class IMO.
Milton is a freak physically for sure. I am curious over how well he will do this season. He doesnt have eye popping stats, but I read that he came on late in the season..
From that video looks like incredible athlete but suspect hands?
Demarco Cobbs played quarterback last season and finished his junior year with over 1,000 yards passing for 20 touchdowns. He also rushed for approximately 1,000 yards for another 10 scores. Cobbs also ran back two punts for touchdowns, two interceptions for touchdowns and one kick return for a TD. He benches 305-pounds, squats 400 and has a 32-inch vertical jump. Cobbs also runs track (10.62 100m/21.9 200m).
This was just posted this morning
"Premier ESPNU 150 Watch List athlete DeMarco Cobbs revealed the latest changes with his favorite schools to affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com. "Not in order, (my top six schools are) Tennessee, Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida."
Cobbs subtracted USC and Texas, two schools previously in the mix for his signature. "Both (USC and Texas) are good schools, but I'm just not really feeling them right now."
Cobbs likes LSU's young starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson, he's drawn to the pro experience on Tennessee's staff, likes that Florida competes for national titles, is attracted to the way Georgia uses its receivers and would enjoy the chance to line up next to Julio Jones at Alabama.
Additional programs such as Auburn, Arizona and Florida State were also in the picture for Cobbs at one point or another during the process."
I've known that Cobbs is a premiere prospect but it seems there's not a good read on where's he's leaning right now. I think the elimination of USC and Texas helps us immensely as we'll have a chance to prove our ware this season against Georgia, Florida, and Alabama and possibly (though very unlikely) LSU if we were to make the SEC Title Game. I'm really worried about OU though. Any thoughts or comments???
