'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

New article on TOS about hime. Says we are pretty much in his top three.

"I'm liking Tennessee a lot," Cobbs said with a laugh. "They are a lock for an official visit. If I had a top three they would be in that group. Once the season gets to rolling and I see how everything is going, I'll call the coaches after a loss to see how they handle adversity."

I had no idea we stood this good with him. This is some good news on what has kind of been a bad day..

LOL, maybe one day someone will listen to me. If that is scout go read the one in the Grayson thread please.

Jewbaccah, do you think we can land cobbs without a 4 star qb in this class?

Yes. But it is a given with a Scroggins. If a recruit trust the coaches he will commit. If we sign a 3 star guy and say this guy is awesome the recruit will trust us. It is just sales. The problem is getting that trust. USC gets on reputation alone. We have to earn it right now on O. Monte is getting it on name alone.

Now-IMO-a guy like Scroggins might get us in the ear of guys who are not even listening like Prater. Either way Cobbs is probably top 5 WR in this class IMO. And he for sure trust us already. I would say very likely all Vol.

Ive always been a fan of cobbs seems to be the one who could be the biggest impact at wr right away minus prater.

Cool, thanks man. Cobb is a beast. I like him more than Ambles for sure. Maybe Prater too.

Guys i am thrilled about Milton. He is a very bright prospect.

Milton is a freak physically for sure. I am curious over how well he will do this season. He doesn’t have eye popping stats, but I read that he came on late in the season..

I agree that he is very physically gifted, but being physically gifted and being a good football player are 2 different things.

From that video looks like incredible athlete but suspect hands?

We will see. I believe he played mostly QB and is playing WR this year. He has been a WR at the camps. They have been raving about him. Once this kid gets the ball he is hard to bring down. Not just make you miss he will run over a DB.

Demarco Cobbs played quarterback last season and finished his junior year with over 1,000 yards passing for 20 touchdowns. He also rushed for approximately 1,000 yards for another 10 scores. Cobbs also ran back two punts for touchdowns, two interceptions for touchdowns and one kick return for a TD. He benches 305-pounds, squats 400 and has a 32-inch vertical jump. Cobbs also runs track (10.62 100m/21.9 200m).

That baggage may very well cost him the college he really wants to go to. These days having a good student and having no baggage is very important because of the graduation rate you have to have.

This was just posted this morning

"Premier ESPNU 150 Watch List athlete DeMarco Cobbs revealed the latest changes with his favorite schools to affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com. "Not in order, (my top six schools are) Tennessee, Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida."

Cobbs subtracted USC and Texas, two schools previously in the mix for his signature. "Both (USC and Texas) are good schools, but I'm just not really feeling them right now."

Cobbs likes LSU's young starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson, he's drawn to the pro experience on Tennessee's staff, likes that Florida competes for national titles, is attracted to the way Georgia uses its receivers and would enjoy the chance to line up next to Julio Jones at Alabama.

Additional programs such as Auburn, Arizona and Florida State were also in the picture for Cobbs at one point or another during the process."

I've known that Cobbs is a premiere prospect but it seems there's not a good read on where's he's leaning right now. I think the elimination of USC and Texas helps us immensely as we'll have a chance to prove our ware this season against Georgia, Florida, and Alabama and possibly (though very unlikely) LSU if we were to make the SEC Title Game. I'm really worried about OU though. Any thoughts or comments???

Julio Jones will be off to the NFL after Cobbs' true freshman year, so if this is his #1 reason for considering Bama, he might as well drop them.

he seem to be giving us some consideration despite our current QB troubles. i can only assume that his interest will rise when we do get a QB but should we somehow, miraculously, land Scroggins, then I would say we have a real good shot at Cobbs.

Im hoping for Ambles, Cobbs, and Milton as our recievers. Im just not feeling Prater as a Vol, not due to a lack of talent, I just currently dont see him here. Not so say that doesnt change as the season goes though. But we are legitimate contenders currently for Milton, Cobbs, and Ambles IMO.
