'10 RB Marcus Lattimore

He's taking an unofficial to UT. He's coming on his own dime and is riding up with Miller and Willis. He will still have all 5 of his officials left...

If he wasn't truely interested i don't think he would bother to waste his time with an unofficial especially with two UT commits Miller and Willis tagging along. Sounds like both of them are going to be his ear about switching his commitment.

I think that Willis and Miller are going to get him to Knoxville and tell him to commit or walk back to South Carolina.

I think we have a shot here. I've followed recruiting 24/7 for less than a year, but I've learned to use your own reasoning over what recruits are telling media outlets in certain cases.

Is he crazy about our RB depth? No.

Is he from a competitive program where he's used to playing tough competition and a coaching staff that's very demanding? Yes, which is why I think Willis and Miller were so comfortable here.

We aren't the favorite by any means, but I think we're going to get an in-season visit in the next 2-4 weeks as has been reported.

I'm not holding my breath, but I think Miller and Willis are certainly getting us some late consideration.
Willis and Miller help, but the guy has seen the campus before. Maybe not the game atmosphere, but he's been here before and he still crossed us off his list. If we have any shot at all, it's a looong one.

If we didnt have BB or Oku, I bet he would have already committed here. I imagine he wants to play early, and unless he thinks he could beat out Oku for the #2 spot next year, I dont see us with much if any chance to get him. He is coming on the visit to hang out with his friends and see a football game. All that said, if this staff has taught us anything, its never say never when it comes to recruits and to expect the unexpected........

Leifheit talked about how big the difference was between a visit during the summer and a visit on a game day...

All these guys have visited UT numerous times & are very familiar with the campus & facilities. A couple years ago they stopped by UT on the way to play Montgomery Bell Academy & practiced at the indoor facility.

point?

the point is there wont be a difference between a summer visit & gameday visit because he has already experienced it all. the only factor thats gonna matter is him weighing his playing time options with the stable of rbs we already have. i would love for a homer to come to UT but i honestly dont think we have enough balls to spread around to the rbs we already have.

Leifheit said there was no comparison between the two. The game day visit blew the summer visit completely out of the water. Miller and Willis came up to UT this summer, and didn't really think a whole lot about it. When they came back back for the game day visit, there were in awe. The next day, they were Vols...

And Leifheit still ends up at UNC...

Agreed...

And Willis and Miller still end up at UT...

Yeah, those commitments are going to stick. I think both will keep the other from wavering any. Gonna be neat seeing them compete against each other although I think Willis ends up at DT.

Yea, another good thing is that all we have to recruit against is the jokes at FSU who won't even be there next year. Helps on Luc too...

If Lattimore goes to SCjr, I think he will end up disappointed. No matter what Spurrier tells him, he wont be there to coach Marcus past his sophomore tear.....but that actually may be a good thing if they bring in a coach with a different, RB oriented offense. I dont think the Vols will pull any "top shelf" RB recruits this year, because our depth and talent there is amazing.
