'10 SC OL Marquis Pair

Project or not, we need olinemen bad. at 6'6, if he could get up to around 300lbs, would be a hoss.

I think starting with his kind of frame and working up in weight bodes way better for OL development than starting huge and working down.

I hope we keep Pair. There is one or two others I would rather lose before him.

Maybe the staff has told him that we are going to be getting more "highly rated" prospects and for him to reevaluate his options

its certainly possible, but it would sure be nice to have some more OL commitments before we start cutting them loose. It doesn't make sense that we would have accepted his commitment in the first place if that were the case...

Pair more than likely wouldn't see the field until 2012 anyway. He's a solid long-term prospect and I would love to keep him, but I think we're in need of linemen that will be ready to contribute sooner.

i hate to see this as bad as we need OL... I thought he was pretty solid to UT anyone know what happend??

no clue....i doubt he is really considering SC with the OL they have committed...i aint joking..they have 7 already

i assume we feel pretty good about some other OL

even if he is a long term project you hate to see him leave.. we are trying to build depth within the OL and you need a number of guys to do so

I honestly don't like losing this kid. We need bodies up front. I know he was a project. But he just needed weight. It wasn't like we were trying to teach him to play the position. He looked like the prefect OL for this system.

I sure hope this means we are getting ready to get some commitments from some top OL prospects. Because if not this isn't good. Even when he commited he never really seemed sold on Tennessee though. Who knows what kind of player he would have turned into. But I think this is a loss.

I hate losing him either way. We need Linemen. But you have to wonder. It sures seems like we would have really been all over him if we weren't looking good with other Linemen this staff had higher.

Hopefully it will turn out good. I think this staff is going to finish extreamly strong. There are just to many kids with UT high on their list. The only thing is we need Linemen.

knowing how aggressive this staff is...they wouldn't let him open back up without us having a few in their pocket

has this been confirmed now that i think about it? link?

I don't think he was ever solid in his commitment based on what he said the day he "committed."

I think we pressured for a commitment during the camp, but he's been always looking around. Would still love for the staff to end up keeping him though.

I really doubt the staff is just letting him leave. I would say it is more his decision than theirs.

That is likely exactly what's happening. Which is a good sign for us in terms of the offensive linemen left on the board. We have some pretty big targets and at least 4 of them are going to be Vols.

Back in August I made two predictions,

We would end up with the number 1 class and

Marques Pair would decommit and go to USC and Broussard would not end up at UT either.

For both I was told that was ridiculous, that the staff loved Pair or they would not have offered him etc.

Pair looking around should properly be made to appear to be his decision. What it really means is that we have better players coming in for the OL.

JaWuan James, Morgan Moses, John Cullen, Damien Robinson, TJ Leifheit and James Stone we know all are very interested and very high on our list. We do not need to be worried about the OL. We also will end up with some surprise prospects as we always do, and in this case it could be surprise OL like Chaz Green. If UGA implodes I would be happy to see us getting in for one of their guys also.

See Kiffin can struggle this year and everyone can see it is because he has the scarecrow as his QB. Richt has no excuse to not have a good season.

Which 4 are you thinking of Sab?
