"It went real good. I liked it a lot," Maclin said on Monday. "Everything went well. When I first got there I went to go eat breakfast with coach (Larry) Porter. We watched some film and then went to practice. I enjoyed myself a lot."

Coach Porter is good friends with James Maclin, Justin's father and an assistant coach at Ridgeway.

I had high hopes that we would get this kid it doesn't sound good @ this point but time is on our side!

Hey Rex has he been to our campus and do you think he will come on an official visit?

He has not been to my knowledge. I just dont have a good feeling about him, all signs seem to point to LSU.

I am not sure how high this guy is on our list.

We have to take like 6 OL this year and I assume 4 DL.
2 QB's....
2 Te's

Not sure we are worried about LB that much.

I know it sucks to see a 4-star LB go out of state...but we have critical holes to fill elsewhere. If we start losing those OL that are in-state then i will get worried.

I see it like this.

OL 6-7
DL 5-6 .....2-3 DT and 2-3 DE's
QB 2
TE 2-3
Kicker 1-2
WR 2
LB 2
DB 2

RB we are loaded...not a big deal to take one
LB we have #'s..lot of unproven guys though...we took like 4 last year

Those numbers sound About right. But still, I don't see why the coaches wouldn't love to have Maclin in Orange. Point is that he just isn't reciprocating our interest at this point, which sucks.

I think if this staff decides he is a necessity and puts the press on..we can swing him

When Ed O, Monte, and Lance come calling he will show interest back

So the only reason one of the top prospects in state isn't showing interest in us (even though our staff has a mission to fence up the state) is because we don't really want him??

ChiTown Vol...i am not saying that at all but you can put words in my mouth if you want to. I am just saying that I don't think this staff has him as a priority...like they did with teague....bryce.... marlon brown....etc

If we show him that kind of love...he will probably show some back. As it stands now the coaches are courting OL and QB's..... Our 2 biggest areas of need.

No worries, bro. I hope he ends at UT, but I just don't think our staff can get everyone they want to get. That's just not how recruiting works. But I guess the only ones who really know how hard we are going after him are the coaches and Mr. Maclin.

“LSU was my team as a kid,” said Tennessee linebacker Justin Maclin said. “My dad knows some of the coaches and I’ve always been connected to them.” The Tigers were the first school to offer Maclin last summer and he says they are still recruiting him the hardest. “I think that LSU is gonna be real good this season,” Maclin said. “Plus, after this year they are gonna be losing a lot of..."

"Alabama and LSU are both great schools and they are my top two right now. Both schools offer early playing time, a chance to play for a national championship and they aren't too far from home which my dad likes," said Maclin. "If I had to say one thing LSU has over Alabama, and this may sound silly, but they have better food there. For Alabama, I like their defensive scheme better. It is a better fit for me. Other than that, they are both pretty even."

"Tennessee and Florida are after me pretty hard too. I will make sure I visit those schools a couple of times at least before I make any kind of decision," said Maclin. "As far as when I could make my decision, if it feels right, I may do it before my senior season starts but otherwise it may be closer to Signing Day.

If nothing else this past recruiting season has shown that persistence can def. pay off... Obviously FLA was nu'keese's favorite at one point in time but we kept after him and the same can be said for a lot of the other guys. I would like to see us stick it out with this kid and get him to put one more board in that fence Kiffins building

AMP video that came out today. Maclin talks about his recent Southern Cal, says Bama and Lsu are his top 2 and Tennessee is in his top 6. Also said he wants to make it to tennessee on an unofficial soon. Said Alabama and Tennessee are on the rise.

While he isn’t sure about attending the USC camp, Maclin does plan on attending camps at Tennessee and LSU. “I really like the new coaches at Tennessee,” he said.

“I think they are gonna be real good,” Maclin said. “Tennessee is getting a lot of great recruits and (defensive coordinator) coach Monte Kiffin is already a Hall of Famer. You know they are at least gonna have great defense with him.”

He says the Vols like him at both linebacker and defensive end. “They said they’d probably use me at D-end on third downs,” he said.

I think if he comes on campus, we will have as good as a shot as anybody. He could be a solid contributor as a freshman in UT. He may never see the field at LSU and Alabama.

"LSU, Alabama, Illinois, Florida and USC are my top five right now," Maclin said. "I like LSU, Alabama, and maybe Florida the most right now. They all play my style of defense, are winners, and have good academics too."

"I'm open to others schools besides just those top five. I'm also talking to North Carolina, Syracuse, Memphis, and Tennessee. I'm also receiving mail from Georgia, Oregon, Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, and a lot of others."
