"Ed Orgeron is wearing me out" says father of top Memphis Ridgeway HS 4****prospect, Justin Maclin. I was getting a quick snack with long time friend and former U ofMemphis qb, Tim Jones at Huey's when Tim says "look who's coming in the door." It was James Maclin, father of Justin, a former great football player at Memphis, successful businessman, and great family man. We invited James to sit with us while he ordered his take out order for his family. Naturally, the discussion gets around to UT. When I mentioned how Lane and the staff can relate, identify, with today's youth, James said "don't tell me anything about Orgeron; he's wearing me out. He called me at 7AM this morning wanting to talk football; he's unreal."
James says that he wants Justin to visit USC. He said that they are going to try to set up visits with LSU, Alabama, UT, for sure, and several others. Right now, no one has any lead; James says that he will give Justin advice but will continue to emphasize to Justin that he must choose the college he most feels comfortable with, that it's his life, etc.
Then, Marlon Walls walks in; he says that he's leaving in the morning for UT with his mother with Greg King possibly driving with them. Marlon says he will be eligible by mid May, that he's documenting his on line course work so that there's no questions from the clearing house; he says that Greg is one point from qualifying. Marlon is definetely 6-4, 290 pounds-no visible fat-works out with personal trainer every day, and now proudly says he will be a dt at UT!
“Coach O was there first thing,” Maclin said. “Tennessee is really coming on strong. They are definitely recruiting me harder than anyone at this point.”
On Monte:
“He is a NFL legend,” Maclin said. “He is one of the best in the business. The Tennessee staff has a lot of NFL experience, so does the Alabama staff and the coaches from USC.”
“I’m looking forward to spending some time on the Tennessee campus,” Maclin said. “I hope to get to know the new coaching staff a lot better; I’m looking forward to it.”
