'10 TN OL James Stone

We need to be a top 5 to 10 class first. I think we will be tho. Everyone needs publicity on signing day. That is becoming the biggist day in the offseason. Recruits for next year watch it and it is nationally shown. Everyone wants to make an impact there.

He is friends with Golden Tate, the WR that went to ND?

ND scars me more than anyone since he wants a combination of football and academics. And Notre Dame has had some success in Tennessee that last several years. But getting Tennessee talent has not really helped them in winning anything.

"I would say Alabama is recruiting James the hardest. Coach (Joe) Pendry loves his footwork and they really like him at tackle. Then there is another group of schools that are right behind them as far as how hard they are recruiting him, and they are Auburn, Tennessee and Notre Dame. "

We will be judged more by the progress we make on the field this year.

This. With a 8 win season the excitement will be back in vol country. Look what this staff did with a 5-7 record to work with. Imagine a 8 win season and 2 years to work on the prospects.

Tennessee is in very good shape with Stone. I will be surprised if he isn't a Vol in time despite the fact that there is a coach or two at his high school who are pushing him basically to anywhere but Tennessee.

From an article talking about potential UT commits this year...

James Stone - I think he’s sold on UT for many reasons, the depth chart, home state and the fact that UT has made him their highest in state priority. James is really big on academics, but in the end I think he’s going to see that starting as a true freshman isn’t possible at UT, it’s pretty damn likely. Alabama is going after Stone hard, but it’s unknown at this point as to whether Stone is a fan of Dodge Chargers or not.

I just caught up with Ralph Thompson, the head football coach at Maplewood High in Nashville, Tenn, about the recruitment of his blue-chip offensive tackle James Stone.

“Everything is still pretty much status quo,” Thompson said. “I don’t think Stanford is quite in the picture anymore. Definitely Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.”

Both Stone and Thompson are looking forward to their official visit to Notre Dame for the USC game. I personally like where the Irish stand at this point headed into the season.

Thompson said that Stone is 6-5, 310, and it's a good 310.
