Why is that? UT has great academics in his field of interest as well. I hope he follows his favorite player (John Henderson) to UT and dominates as well. This kid is my most wanted prospect at this point. I will be sick if he signs with any other SEC team.

I think that if it is another SEC team it would have to be Vandy for the academics. I would not blame the kid for that. It just seems that academics are much more important to him than football according to the article.

but if he comes to ut and chaney gets a hold of him hes going to the league! who cares about learning some neat things. haha in all serious ya you have to respect that buts that doesnt help us out

With Mr. Stone it is not about football, it is about acedemics! I remember Gra-Mar having a Poetry cafe during his middle school years. All the 8th grade children where asked to write a poem to share, his stood out because the contents discussed the fact that everyone saw his statue and his race and asked him about sports...but they never asked him about his acedemics and that bothered him. He is very studious and it was a pleasure teaching him. There is not a year that goes by that I don't talk about his story to either the new teachers in the buliding or the students. His brother Jason is just like him. Those of you that concentrate on sports: James top in football.......step back because Jason will be top in basketball!!!!!


This is in the comments section. So we know that a teacher at his junior high cannot spell the word academics, does not understand the usage of where and were, and thinks statue and stature are the same...I feel so sorry for the children who are forced to attend these schools. We need vouchers and school choice ASAP!

they can't all want to be Vols...it'd be nice if we could sway this kid, but we seem to be doing quite fine bringing them in from outside our border.

Maybe the fence was just going to be built to keep in all of the riduculously good out of state talent we're getting!! :)

I'm not concerned about Stone visiting ND. From what I've been able to glean from the various sources, I think he'll be a Vol.

FWIW, if I were a recruit, I'd take my visits before committing even if I'd made up my mind. The schools ensure it is an enjoyable experience and you get to see some great games and venues in person.

What fan of college football wouldn't want to see the ND vs USC game in South Bend? I don't like either team and I would like to do that.

when Kiffin said he was building a fence, he meant he wanted it to have a small doggy door at the bottom of it so that all the small timers could squeeze out and go to places like ND, Alabama, and Tennessee State Tech School for the Blind.

all the big dogs can't get out of the fence. Stone will be a Vol. Marlon Brown would have too if his grandma didn't make him knit a UGA quilt.

The state of TN is never chocked with talent. We have to be choosers, not beggars. We basically want the top 3-4 kids each year... then recruit nationally for our other 21-24 players.

I don't think we get Stone at this point, IMO. I think he's a good prospect, but he's not as athletic as the coaching staff would like, IMO. There's a couple of guys higher on the board than he is.

They need more than a couple of guys. They need at least half a dozen o-linemen in this class.

I agree I am not that impressed with Stone or from the reports I have been receiving. Let's move on to bigger fish

Honestly when it comes to someone this smart, they are looking at academically elite college football programs. When your offers are from Stanford, Cal-berk, and Vanderbilt along with Notre Dame and most SEC schools you make a decision based on the value of your future. I think he will end up at Notre Dame or Vandy.

I think we should pull in Chaz Green and Damien Robinson and be plenty happy with that. Also could pull out green and put in Leifheit
