'10 TN OL James Stone

How can one say that ND and UT lead and the other say they are not even in the running. Does his coach have an agenda or is Stone telling different stories to different people?

don't believe anything ralph thompson says...

Told ya so about Notre Dame....
Stone indicated that he enjoyed both visits but that with the changes at Notre Dame he’s not really considering the Irish much anymore.
As far as UT is concerned.....
"UT's got a fiery coaching staff. They've got a great system that they've got their players in and they have an opportunity there," Stone said of the Vols. "It shows that they're really doing something with the program and what they're teaching is really working."
Jim Chaney has visited Stone multiple times as well....
"He's been trying to talk to me about making my official down there. He's been telling me about UT and why they feel like I fit in good there," Stone said about his visits with Chaney.
Here's the entire article courtesy of VQ and Paul Fortenberry....

Are The Vols in Stone's Final 5??

Just goes to show you how much things can change in a week's time. Stone said himself that Notre Dame led. You cannot get a much better source than that.

You've made being wrong an art form on here lately so I guess you were due to get lucky on one.

Bragging about getting one right out of a hundred is akin to celebrating a touchdown when you are down by 40.

I seriously doubt Notre Dame is out of it at this point, but I keep telling all of you that Tennessee is still in this one. Listen to Stone, ignore his coach.

Your no Nostradamus yourself sir. As far as Notre Dame being out of it, how do you not believe that?? This is the first interview that James has done in some time and I don't think he's one to beat around the bush when he does it. I know I am skeptical of kids and interviews, but I was told as much before he ever did it and told you that as well. So, I was very much right about it, and so were the people who told me. Those are the one's who should get credit here, not me. I'll take the proving you wrong though. :)

You aren't proving anyone wrong, Eric. James Stone has not signed anywhere. I cannot believe that he could go from one week saying Notre Dame leads to the next them not being in it. That kind of a jump tells me that it's just as likely to happen in reverse.

That's why I say Notre Dame is not out of it.

As I have said in the past, I don't expect Stone to sign with ND, but they are a factor.

At this point I am. I'll take what I can get right now. :p

James Stone, who, like Oher, plays left tackle, is currently a senior at Maplewood High School in Nashville, Tenn. Stone lost his mother to cancer when he was in the sixth grade. His father, according to Stone’s high school football coach Ralph Thompson, has ‘never been around.’

The fact that Stone, the No. 9-ranked offensive tackle prospect in the country according to ESPN, is so coachable is another reason college coaches are high on him. Thompson describes this year’s Class AA Mr. Football as extremely humble, soft-spoken and a coach’s dream.

Next ‘Blindside’ story might run through Tuscaloosa

Gotta keep the homegrown boys here, especially one with his size. Who knows what this staff can make him into, it's all up to him anyways.

So are we getting a visit from Stone or not?
Personally, I still feel that he would be a great pick up. Even if he ends up playing guard instead of tackle, the guy has got to have some talent. He's in the top players in each of the major recruit rankings. We def need the help in the trenches.
