'10 TN OL James Stone

...
Interestingly, CLK's/CEO's character & negative recruiting tactics worked to turn Juwan James from Bama to UT, but backfired against in recruiting Stone. If Jawuan hadn't been an EE, UT probably would've lost him when CLK bolted, but now that he's gone UT will likely get Stone too. So, ironically the timing of CLK's departure could not have worked out any better in terms of helping UT pull both of these recruits away from Bama.

Hadn't thought about that, but you're right. Even without meaning to, K-boy zapped us twice.

Stone likes UT and Bama both. He and his guardian aunts like Saban and Pendry (UA OL coach) a lot, but apparently now like Dooley a lot too for the same reasons -- good character. One of his guardian aunts has very much wanted him to go to Bama for a while, but the other one says it's totally his decision. James Stone grew up a UT fan, but the Lil Lane/Ogre circus was a show stopper. Stone most likely would've landed at Bama if not for UTs coaching change.

All of that said, I think UT will get James Stone now.

In addition, if X leaves a week earlier, our class would have been decimated because, some if not all of the 8 EE's, would have been gone. It really is frightening to think about how much worse this could have been. CDD and Co. have done a remarkable job.

dooley has done a great job. im very impressed by his character and integrity. 2 things that were missing from the previous regime. on stone, we need him signed up and put him in the s&c program and turn him loose in 11.

I think Stone could start if he works at it. He and Jawaun James starting for 4 years, no one will touch Bray or Nance.

Are you implying Saban is a good character guy? I think we can all agree he is a great coach, but come on...
:hi:
Actually, contrary to what many Bama haters like to think, he is. You now have two coaches at UT, Dooley and Thompson, that would tell you exactly that, if you had the opportunity to talk to them about it.

Be glad UT now has Derek Dooley -- a very bright, well mentored, disciplined, hard working and promising young HC with good character and integrity. Lil Lane would've set UT's program back badly if he'd stayed another year or two before getting fired.

I agree. Unlike a lot of UT fans, I do not think Saban is the devil. He is a great coach who gets it done. Same for U. Meyer.

Yep. :good!:

Dooley did a super job of stopping the bleeding and getting positive recruiting momentum very quickly. It's looking like UT is going to end up with an excellent recruiting class.

I don't think Saban is a bad person, I think he is just very demanding which makes him hard to work for sometimes, but I don't think he is as evil as LSU fans like to make him out to be.

But hey if I was in their shoes I would hate him too!:eek:lol:

Hey, we finally agree on something. I also think Saban is a good character guy and obviously a great recruiter and coach. As bad as it pains me to say it, I would think most any team in the country would trade their coach for Saban.

Saban is just a hard-a$$, I can see parents trusting their kids with him. Not so with CUM. That guy not only is a liar, he looks like he is losing his mind.

Does this make us BFF now? :) Just kidding. No hard feelings, man.

I've just been told Stone will sign with Tennessee on Wednesday. It will be good pub for UT on ESPNU. This was all Coach Dooley, guys.

V,B!

they hope they don't have to start a true freshman and they expect to coach up the upper classmen to start and not have to start a true freshman. Reality is, none are going to be ready to be starters in fall. They may end up having to start them, but they won't be ready..

schoefield looked really good on tape and everybody was quietly expecting good things from him at rt. douglas is a future top ten pick. theres a lot of different ways to go with the interior. Stone may get the chance at lg inside of AD.

Timing for these two recruits, maybe. But 12 more hours or so, and Willis would be enrolled.

I'm really just responding so I can see your avatar again.
