'10 TN OL James Stone

The offensive line position is 2nd in terms of lack of death only behind the QB position. However, James Stone would be a huge help!

I still think we will land this kid.
Especially if we are able to pull off an upset in the Swamp...national media will be all over that like bark on a tree. :dance2:

If that were to happen, it generally has set the tone for the rest of the season. Giving Saban the business as well would not only look great under any Vol fan's Christmas tree, but would help with recruiting too.

Although those two situations would be very nice they are some really big "if's" IMO.

I would think "lack of death" would be a good quality in any player...

Sorry, had to jump on that typo

i would be disappointed if this kid goes to Bama. Could you imagine the crap we would have to hear from fans

I am pretty certain this kid will be a vol. He is one that I am going to keep an eye on that might commit after camp.

I'd put money on a verbal by the end of summer like Bryant said. It's not over regardless of where he commits. If he commits to Bama, LSU, or Notre Dame, a good Tennessee season could easily sway him come NSD. If he commits to us, a bad season could mean we lose him to a more successful program.

When I read his quotes it sounds like it would be hard for him to commit to play out of state. So I think he will give us a verbal after a great experience at summer camp and will stay committed after we exceed expectations this year :victory:

He'll be in Auburn this weekend for the "big cat weekend."

There will be no forty times or agility drills. There will be no player evaluations or football competitions. Prospects will just hang out with the coaches and players for two days. They will play video games, have a home run hitting contest, a pie-eating contest and just hang out. In essence, this is a big social gathering for Auburn's top recruiting targets.

Let's see... pie eating contest or having Coach O chest bump the crap out of you at camp? That's a bit of a tossup really.

Then again maybe he'll haul a$$ to K-Town Monday.

Let's see...hang out with Auburn coaches for shitz and giggles or come to camp for one on one coaching from 3 NFL coaches (and a GA with Mitch Browning's experience)....hhhmmm? Tough choice to make. If he's stoopid enough to choose the former, then Bama is where he needs to be.

bama lurks
And we need to send them all the Forest Gumps we got in this state. Choosing to hang out with Auburn coaches instead of getting valuable instruction from coaches straight out of the NFL is as about a lame choice one could make, for a Tennessee kid.

yeah i'm disappointed in him. it seems like hes screwing around instead of working. thats not how were going to get back in the race for the SEC championship

Can we get some more intel on the pies....

Guys, maybe I'm wrong, but this sounds like a VERY, VERY good idea on Auburn's part. I mean, think about it. Two days for the coaches to start building a relationship with these players based around something other than football. 48 hours is a long time for the coaches to be having fun and talking to the players about life, girls, problems, etc. These guys won't forget this. And this isn't just James Stone and a bunch of rejects who are gonna be there. I'll throw out some names of people who will also be there: Tyrone Cornelius, JC COPELAND, Khairi Fortt, Lattimore, Mincy, Owens, Trovon Reed, Jeremy Richardson, Seastrunk. All that talent setting around talking about going to Auburn together is not a pleasant thought...

If you think this isn't going to put Auburn high on the list of these guys, you're lying to yourself. I've been like a few others on here and thought Auburn's staff has been sort of a joke with Tiger Prowl and I've not really worried about them at all. This has changed my mind. They aren't leading for Seastrunk, Dyer, Lattimore, Reed, Richardson, Mincy, and Owens by accident. They know what they are doing. Maybe not as actual football coaches, but you cannot deny it on the recruiting front. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they came away with a commit or two from some those big names they lead for...

Don't forget that Copeland named Auburn as his leader just 10 days before he committed to the Vols. And with Auburn's lack of depth on the OL, the battle for James Stone just got alot tougher...

Doesn't make a hills of beans. Camp is a time to get down to business if you're serious about improving your skills...even if you're highly sought after. If I'm trying to make it to the league and a Tennessee HS kid, I'm there when a camp spot is available, chock full of coaches who just came from the league. All of them except CLK would STILL BE IN THE LEAGUE if CLK hadn't convinced them to come!
It would be like turning down a chance to attend a QB camp with one on one instruction from Peyton and coach Dungy. Plus, there's going to be some big names out on that field. Coach Tomlin and Big Al Haynesworth was at the Coaches camp. Think CLK and CMK might want to do something similar for their first camp full of top shelf recruits?

Chill with these Auburn jokers once the work is done...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Let's also hope that Copeland doesn't start feeling... unsure...
Hanging out with coaches, at the end of the day, is still a contrived mechanism for recruiting purposes. These kids know that...except maybe Stone.
In that light, it's not terribly different than getting a visit or going on an official/unofficial visit.
I just hope they don't let the kids drive the limo after eating all that mystery pie :p

What about when a coach starts saying some controversial things about other coaches and schools and then he admits on TV numerous times that he did it to get the name of his school in the heads of recruits? Is that a "mechanism contrived for recruiting purposes?"

These things work. CLK knows what he is doing, and it looks like Chizik does too...

I hope this doesn't go like I'm thinking it might...

It's one thing to try and pull a fast one on the media...say controversial things knowing everything now a'days is seconds from going up on YouTube. It's another to try and convince HS kids that you're just "Trying to get away from it all," when they know you're simply trying to butter them up for the cooking pot, as it were. :)
