'10 VA DT Evan Hailes

per espn...

ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive lineman Evan Hailes (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith) has narrowed his list of 30 scholarship offers down to five schools. Soon that list will be down to just one.

"I have a top five," Hailes said. "It's Penn State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, North Carolina State and LSU. I've visited Virginia Tech and Tennessee so far. I visit Penn State this Friday.

"After I visit Penn State I'll make my decision. I'll decide at the end of this week or beginning of next week."

The 6-1, 315-pounder made 81 tackles including 11 sacks last season in helping his team go undefeated and win a state championship.

QB Stokes gets first offer; Hailes narrows it down to five - ESPN

And Malik Stokes leaves Michigan without an offer. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up and whether it had anything to do with Je'Ron's decision. (probably didn't)

So does it seem if he's visited only PSU and UT that it's down to us two? Just seems strange to think that VT, NCSU, and LSU would have a realistic shot at least until after he's committed if they choose to continue recruiting him.

Yeah, misread that he was visiting Penn State and somehow assumed it was a 2nd visit in my brain. Well then that seems like still leaves N.C. State and LSU out of the picture for now.

I wouldnt even waste the calories on that kid. He is just another internet hero. I just pay him no mind inless he post something that is really really stupid.
Who are you calling a kid? Gulf War combat veteran here...and just who are you?
Maybe it's because I'm not a kid, that I raise the issue about adults here acting their age.

I was merely expressing an opinion about the recruit in question, and the post never merited snidely insulting comments...which are against forum rules, BTW.

not you

You stay running your mouth dude when I wasn't even the one that said that was a dumb post or called it the dumbest post ever. Maybe if you would read you would know. But you are someone I wouldn't mind seeing on the street. Then we'd see how tough you really are.

My apologies.

Getting back on topic, one day it seems like the staff has cooled on a recruit, and later that they are still pursuing them. I just thought I had read something from one of the other sites that he was "too slow" for CMK's defense.

This kid will likely be a 330+ kid by the time he hits the field in college.

I doubt it. He may be over his ideal playing weight. We won't know until he hits college though.

I don't know if you saw the bit where Andre Smith (Bama OL who was just drafted in the 1st rd) was practicing with his shirt off...he got a ton of jokes about that. Maybe that's why I am a bit skiddish about us taken someone who looks so out of shape. Carmon is a similar example....bowling ball torso, bowling pins for legs. :)

Andre Smith's shirtless workout...behold, the Jello Man cometh, (BTW, Robert Ayers lit his fat fanny up in both the Bama game and the Senior Bowl), at approx. the 40 sec. mark:

Don't think you'll have to worry about that with this staff.

you got me
i will back down tough guy

Hailes is deciding by the end of this week or early next week. it is between tennessee, virgina tech and Penn state. How do we stand with this recruit?

in all honesty..this one is up in the air...

i could see him choosing either one really

I'm sticking with my guns and say he is a vol but I must say i'm not as confident as last time I said it!

:boxing2:

oh snap!

He sounded so confident for the Vols a few weeks ago, but since we got some other DT committments he seems ambivalent towards us. It will be interesting to see for sure. Plus, we get our first litmus test of Rex's "Vol Locks".

i don't see how these juco dt's would scare him.....broussard is the only freshman

our JUCO DT commits are very good, but I am with you that he should know that he will be able to play here for 4 years as opposed to thier 2.
