“Tennessee, that’s a great place right now,” said the 6-foot-1, 305-pound defensive tackle from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va. “They tell me they’ve got a hole in the middle of their defense. I wouldn’t mind filling that hole.”
As for UT, Hailes feels a kinship to Orgeron in the limited time he’s had to get to know the fiery defensive line coach.
“Him and my line coach are kind of identical; that’s good,” Hailes said. “I need a coach that’s going to cuss me out when I mess up and settle me down and tell me how to do exactly what I need to do.”
It's just weird that he's waiting just for a Bama offer - why? How is that going to change things unless he really wants to go there?
If he does not want to go to Bama, buts want an offer from them, then he must think that he is getting a check with that offer. Otherwise, what worth does the offer have? I do not want this kid. Wanting a Bama offer tells me that he has no values. Take a hike!
He isn't "waiting" for anything, his teammate is committed there and getting a Bama offer is a nice thing to have for a recruit, what recruit wouldn't want an offer from a team that just had a 12-0 regular season?
This all comes from an article from a Bama site... wth do you think they are going to talk about in it? They are asking questions about him, philip sims, and Bama... of course he is going to say he wants a Bama offer, why wouldn't he say that to their writers?
Why does it matter? So he can brag to his grand kids way down the line saying he got an offer from Bama? If he has no intentions of going there then this shouldn't be an issue. I'm not saying he'll commit the second Bama offers him - but Sims has obviously had an effect on him and they could very well join the race if he's thinking that way. I doubt he's wanting to collect these offers as trophies or something. If that was the case we might as well hold out to all the elite programs offer him.
So you're saying an offer from USC does nothing for a kid's ego? No kid would like that offer from USC?
These are 17-18 year old kids, the offers feed their ego and validate themselves. I'm sure Eric Berry loved the attention he was getting in the recruiting process.
You obviously don't comprehend such a thought..
I was recruited out of high school - (definitely not for football or not to the same degree as some of the higher level schools). Yeah - the attention was nice.
And I think you're missing the point. What if he doesn't get the Bama offer? Is his ego going to be deflated? He's basically begging Bama to offer him by saying that.
No he isn't...
The kid told Bama's rivals staff writers in an interview that he would like an offer and several of you have blown this way out of proportion.
If he said the same in an interview with UCLA writers, would you be saying the same thing? would he be "begging" for an offer?
You actually think the kid would literally come out and beg them for one? Of course not - but it speaks volumes The fact that he is saying he would really like an offer is enough to point to the fact the kid would really consider them. Doesn't it kind of taint the trophy a bit when you go bragging about an offer from ________ when you had to convince them to offer you rather than them wanting you badly enough?
I have nothing against the guy like you're making it seem. But I think you're blowing that scenario out the door when they could really get into the picture if it played out that way.
"Right now I'd say my top five are Tennessee, LSU, Virginia Tech, Penn State and NC State.
