'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

There is no possible way to argue against the fact that BB, JJ, and nuke were huge signings. However, you can't ignore the ones that got away. DT Shackelford, Marlon Brown, and Je'ron Stokes.

That will always happen with a new coaching staff. DT and Stokes committed to play for Fulmer so it is understandable that a coaching change could have given them a change of heart. Marlon Brown is a different story though, i think we should have been able to land him anyway.

Pretty sure he was the only commit that didn't get an in home visit with the new staff.

I get your point, though.

"May be closer to 180-pounds than the listed 195. Thin, needs to grow, but on film, makes all the throws. Plays in a very complex offense, Heaps can see and make the throws over the field. Has experience taking snaps in a shotgun offense and under center, has good footwork. Heaps has great pro-style potential with added arm strength."-Barry Every from Rivals.com

IMO it's time to dub eb_for_heisman tafka. footballvol isn't really that annoying anymore.

I was under the impression that EB for Heisman was footballvol, and that he had just signed up for a new name so he could continue to post 90 things per day without people getting pissed off at him. Anyways, what does TAFKA stand for?

With Kearse on board, Sarkisian has gained commitments from five of the eight prospects he's offered within the state's borders. One of the three uncommitted prospects with a Washington offer, Skyline High School quarterback Jake Heaps, has played his recruitment close to the vest, but Kearse likes the Huskies' chances.

"I'm getting the feeling that he really likes Washington," said Kearse. "I'm going to try to get him to come to Washington as much as I can, but I'm not going to force the issue. But I'll try to do everything I can to get him to come to Washington."---Rivals

Sarkisian just landed a solid WR/S and he wants Heaps to come UW with him...

Kearse is a WR and UT actually sent him some letters. I didn't expect him to commit this early, but his older brother already plays at UW, so it's not that big of a surprise. I think these early commits could definitely weigh on Jake. I'm not really bothered by it, though--if he goes, he goes.

I am, however, curious to see what Sarkisian does as a HC. USC's offense wasn't nearly as potent or as explosive without Chow and Kiffin. I think Sark can make UW competitive, but I'm very skpetical that he can make them elite.

I would love to sign Heaps probably the most out of any of the options but right now I think either him or Jesse Scroggins would be excellent pickups for our system with one of the two GA guys (Nance or Mason) being solid no. 2's

updated rivals page has him benching 235 and squating 335. With UW just offering another QB it has to look good for us

I'm no weight lifting coach or anything, but those numbers aren't that impressive. I put up better numbers when I was 17, and I only lifted for about 45 minutes a day 4 days a week and I was around 5'9 170. Not to mention I didn't play for any sports teams. I guess I'd just expect more from a guy of his size and sports background.

That being said. I don't find weightlifting numbers too important for QBs. And I'm still hoping like hell we get this kid.
