'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

This from a guy that played against Heaps:

I have played against him and watched him several times. He is partially a byproduct of the system. Skyline High School has had an outstanding offensive line through out his stay there. He is rarely under pressure, however when it does happen, as in the state championship this year, he makes poor decision. His height is height at 6′ 1″ is also seen as a problem. He also has played with players that have made him look good, a WSU recruit Gino Simone and one of the top WR recruits for the class of 2011 Kasen Williams. Heaps is worthy of national praise and recruiting, however I believe he is not the top QB in the nation.

might be a little sour grapes....who knows

also, I think Heaps is being pulled to UW by his heart, but I think he sees a team that went 0-12 and his head says Tennessee.

Cal and LSU wouldn't make any sense as both have a lot of young Qbs on their teams; BYU isn't going to prepare him for the NFL so IMO UT and UW are the only schools that make any sense

assuming riley starts this and next year, heaps would have a legit chance of starting as a rs freshman at cal. no true freshman will start at cal anyway. i suppose the same can't be said for UT. locker is a junior at UW and i very much doubt he wont be the starter heaps true fresman year.

heaps is the real deal. no doubt.

Heaps freshman yr at UT would be a rebuilding one as we will have to replace our entire OL, but he will never have to win games all by himself b/c he will have an incredible defense to back him up every year

Yeah, if he chooses UW, it won't be because he intends on starting immediately. Jake Locker is a good QB. No matter what QB goes to UW, they better plan on redshirting, IMO.

Not to mention one of the best backfields in the country.

What "poor decisions" did Jake make in the state championship?

Watch his video. His protection was not that outstanding. Most of his downfield throws were on the run with two or three defenders running free in the backfield. I'd say his mobility in the backfield, what separates him from the other 2010 pro-style QBs imo, made his protection seem better than it actually was.

I tend to think the level of his competition in Washington is more of a concern. There were several times he threw a jump ball to a receiver and they just flat out embarrassed the defender. He won't be able to get away with that in the SEC. Probably could in the Pac-10 though!

I saw that on ene of Heaps favorite targets has been ranked very highly in 2011. Get Heaps, get the WR, enjoy success

Miami just offered to make it 25. They might talk a bit, but they pretty much have 0 chance of changing his top 5.

maybe this would be Miamis sweet revenge for scooping away Bryce at the last minute?

I'd say its UT and UW at the top, BYU and Cal a little behind. At this point if LSU really does anything it would be a huge suprise, even the LSU fans think they have no shot.

Per Volquest, David Reaves has left today to visit with Heaps. Lance Thompson is going to Georgia and expects to make a visit to Markeith Ambles.
