'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

from mike farrell...

BYU is the team to beat for Sammamish (Wash.) Skyline's Jake Heaps. While Heaps is interested in Tennessee, LSU, California and Washington, sources say his Mormon faith will lead him to BYU. Heaps wants to make his decision in June, and if it isn't BYU, it would be a stunner to a lot of people.

That's great if he wants to go to BYU....he's just gotta be aware of the fact that he probably won't win a National Championship as long as he's there. They play in a weak conference, they won't ever get higher than a BCS bowl. If he wants a legit shot at a National Championship, I'd look at the SEC, since most of the champs in the past few years have came from there. And if he's not concerned about winning a National Championship....I don't think I want him then.

Really don't think Scroggins would go to UW even if Heaps goes to BYU. I think USC (if he's offered) will be the school that would get him if we don't.

Eh, you never really know. He'd be able to stay on the West Coast in the same system we run, plus from what I gather, they're on him about as hard as we are.

I don't think that would happen, but its possible, and that could really screw us over.

I just can't see anyone going to USC though this year. No one is going to beat out Barkley or Corp in the next couple years.

Wait, what the hell am I talking about? Just handed out a +4. That's cool I'll leave it, but really, no one knows where the hell these kids are going.

It would be a dumb move if he wanted immediate playing time - yeah - unless he's confident. USC/Tenn/Washington... all running similar systems.... he has family in Tennessee and really likes our staff... or he's literally right by the USC campus and doesn't have to move far and he'll be on a winning team not a major, major rebuilding program in UW. I just see more pluses in that scenario.

I'm sure he would love to sit behind Barkley for 3 years.

Do you think he believes Barkley is better than him? They get their players no matter what the depth charts looks like- that's why they're so good.

Sure - yeah - you do get players like Moody when you sign that many great prospects - but they still come. Cassel didn't have a problem with it.
