'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

IF the coaches said.

Hendrix is #1, Scroggins is #2, Heaps is #3 on our list. If they got who they wanted,(which according to this hypo..would be Hendrix and Scroggins) would it matter where they were ranked, or how many stars they had?

There aren't that many of those guys in this class. I don't think you guys realize there really isn't a star guy in this QB class outside of the names we are all regurgitating on this board night and day. I've seen a lot of film and no one comes close to the talent of Scroggins/Heaps/Hendrix out of the uncommitted guys.

Brett Nottingham and Nick Hirschman are there. Put Nottingham's stats (34 TDs, 9 INTs, 70%) up against any of that trio, and he did it in the might of Cali just as Scroggins has.
Rivals.com analyst Barry Every said there's no question Nottingham belongs in that elite category. "He's one of the best, if not the best quarterback I've seen this year. He's the most consistent guy I've seen. "He's very accurate and has excellent footwork. He's got good arm strength but not a cannon. He's very, very accurate, and he throws spirals every time. He has a lot of touch on his passes. He can make any throw."

You have not watched film on Hirschman because there isn't any. He is a completely different player from last year. Hubbs has already stated that the UT staff likes what they have seen from him. That's why they are trying very hard to get him to come to camp...

To say that there are no other options out there that COULD BE better than Hendrix is just ridiculous. I can see Heaps or Scroggins, but not Hendrix...

I can see both sides of the argument but I'm going to have to side with Lord Vader. Maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree about the 2010 QB talent for now, Sab. Only time will tell, at which point I will either ignore the fact I ever made these posts if I'm wrong or bump the thread and rub it in your face if I'm right.

sounds about right...you didn't take into account that i will bump it regardless who's right.

Talent is still out there, but we need to find the right guy for our team. We might have already found him, but there is no telling who this might be and i'm sure our staff has a little more insight than the 'insiders' of recruiting.

a heaps commit would have the biggest recruiting impact of any of the guys on the board. If heaps was to commit you would see the trickle down effect of WRs, TEs, and Olineman pulling the trigger wanting to join to Heaps and Brown.

Right now a Scroggins and Hendrix commit dont bring as much national impact as Heaps but they would be much better impact than any outside options right now. Scroggins is almost there though and Hendrix is making a move. Heaps just has the most national "wow" factor among recruits. We need a QB face of the class before summer is over. Thats why I think its Heaps 1, Scroggins 2, Hendrix 3 based on impact they would have on rest of class.

If we get Heaps I expect Kiffin to allow Chaney to mix in some old Purdue O since Heaps is so similar to Brees.

Whats the % on getting Scroggins and Hendrix?

Bryant and NYC on Scout gave their % of the chances that the Vols have on each QB. Keep in mind this is before the UF and USC offers to Scroggins and the OSU offer to Hendrix. Here's how they had it:

Heaps: Bryant- 30%, NYC-20%. JB thinks he is gonna end up at BYU...

Scroggins: Bryant- 85%, NYC- 75%. "The one school that could shake things up is USC, if they offer they could be the team to beat"

Hendrix: Bryant- 77%, NYC 70%. "Two things could keep Hendrix from becoming a Vol. A Ohio State offer or the thought of another top flight QB committing in Scroggins."

Munchie: Bryant-99%, NYC 90%. "My take is that Munchie already wants to be a Vol."

OSU hasn't actually offered Hendrix yet, unless it happened within the last 12 hours or so. The original report of the OSU offer was premature or wrong, depending on if OSU ends up offering. I'm sure they will.

OSU offering Hendrix changes things with him a lot more than UF and USC offering Scroggins. OSU actually doesn't have the stoutest of QB depth charts besides Pryor, so I could see Hendrix going there and redshirting freshman year.

I have a hard time seeing Scroggins ending up at UF, because I think he would want be near his family and thus go with UT if he comes east. Not to mention the QB depth chart situation isn't as attractive and it's a spread offense (contrary to Meyer's fibs to Scroggins). I also don't see him wanting to risk being buried in that depth chart at USC. UT just makes too much sense for him and I actually have a good feeling about our chances with a top tier QB prospect for the first time all year. Or maybe I'm just lying to myself because I'm a homer. Damn it all Jesse, just commit already. Geez

This option!:)

i think we get scroggins, munchie, and maybe hendrix in this qb class. we have a shot with heaps but the others seem more realistic. i think that class would be pretty darn good. i think we will get 2 qbs and maybe 3. imo

I don't see three QB's in this class. The only way that happens is if we get a Juco kid along with two High School kids. I personaly would like to see a Juco/Transfer and Scroggins or Heaps. Then get back to signing a QB every class.

After hearing that interview, there is NO question in my mind Heaps is going to UW. We should just move on from this kid, we don't stand a chance IMO.

All thequestions were about BYU and U Dub. Kid basically said he was. Thinking about all five schools. We r still in it.

The host pretty much spent 10 minutes telling Jake why he should go to Washington.

Softy is a bit like that, but from what I know Brock Huard isn't.

Also add in this by Greg Biggins on ESPN
For Heaps, he had a top five of BYU, Washington, Tennessee, LSU and the Bears. Many close to the situation feel BYU is the team to beat here and that opinion was echoed by a few players I talked with at the NIKE Camp at Stanford.
