'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

A superstar highschool quarterback with no social life, criminal record or off the field problems that eats and sleeps football.... sounds too good to be true.

It could be a bad thing. He won't be able to handle being half a continent away from home with K-town buzzing. Could ruin the kid.

To take an unofficial all the way to Knoxville is promising, especially with this staff and their credentials

Im kidding. I will say that I think they may be leading simply because it's his hometown school, etc. I do think the CSS has made significant inroads with him.

WSU was positive that they had him too because they got Gino, and his mother was praising their school, and they didn't even make his top 10. BYU and UW both think he is a lock at this point. Obviously one, or both are wrong. All of his actions and all the nice quotes can be misleading though, because I think he really wishes he could accept every offer, but he has to pick one.

BYU doesn't think he is a lock. Bronco knows he has a tough hand to play with every recruit, but he won't fold.

I meant most of the people following recruiting on boards like this, I don't think any coach/recruiter would consider someone a lock until they sign the dotted line.

He had a really good time here and was very impressed. Long way from any kind of decision, but safe to say the visit went about as well as it could for Tennessee and better than Heaps expected.

---Hubbs update on Heaps 2/18

I think we have a shot, just that it will be hard to pull him from UDub

I totally agree. Mormons put a very strong emphasis on families, so it will require Jake to believe UT has something more to offer than UW, because in a tie, home team wins.

Steve Sarkisian is a bright person, and I wouldn't doubt he is capable of convincing Heaps there isn't anything UT can offer way out there on the other side of the country that he can't get right there at home.

Execpt the SEC, the good looking Southern Women, and 107,000 seats in a stadium.

Well, Wheaton4prez (in the Bryce Brown thread) would have you believe the PAC 10 is just as good, what, with USC and Oregon.

107,000 every Saturday could lead to premature hearing loss and having lived on both coasts and all throughout the south, I actually tend to prefer west coast women on average.

and winning some games

I whole-heartedly believe UT is a better football program than UW, but what I am saying is that unlike UW, that only has to play for a tie, we have to go for the kill.

Obviously any school has a chance to woo him, but due to proximity, we have to work alot harder.

Jake Heaps was in knoxville this past monday and tuesday. He and his family loved it. He is not going on his mormon mission.:pepper: So hopefully Jake Heaps will be weaing the orange in the future!

I don't know if it's been posted yet, but there is an article up on Rivals now where Heaps talks about his visit to UT. I don't have a Rivals account, so it would be greatly appreciated if someone with an account could let us know it said...
