'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

The big thing was that even though he was tired from the trip to Knoxville, the trip wasn't near as long as he expected...therefore he has ruled out distance as a problem.
Talks about how passionate the UT fans are....no matter what sport...as evident by the lady vol game that was nearly a sell out. Wow'd by Neyland.
Loved the "dream team staff" (his words) even the "legend" MK. Liked talking the x's and o's and knows he can grow as a player at UT.
Next visit is to UW for spring practice. Will now concentrate on helping his HS team be better and still plans to be decided before his senior season starts.

I think it would be best for him to commit to UT now so he can turn all his attention to his upcoming senior season...

It was an awesome visit.

It was a fantastic visit.

Then you go into the football stadium and I had never seen anything like it. You imagine what it would be like with 107,000 fans and it's ... wow. Even with it empty, it takes your breath away. Then they are renovating things to make it even better. I don't know what else to say other than it's awesome.

lot of X's & O's talk with the coaching staff and got to meet current players.

I would say Tennessee has put some early distance between itself and some other programs, excluding Washington. I'm not personally predicting BYU. I think BYU finishes 3rd or 4th. I think it could end up an SEC/Pac-10 toss-up at the end.

He's been quoted to say he's "leaning" toward NOT taking it, but has YET to rule it out. So, that fella is jumping the gun a bit. Unless I and everyone else, has failed to hear him rule it out.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I completely missed this one.

How much do you wanna bet that the top of the recruiting board says "Jake Heaps will be a Vol" ?

looks like it will be tough to pull him from CSS at UW. They seem to be putting all their eggs in the Heaps basket.

regardless of the attractiveness of his other suitors we are standing out.... the staff is doing a great job so far with heaps and have us DEEP in the thick of things

Does anyone know if we have even made an offer to another quarterback? Talk about eggs in a basket. I'm pretty sure CLK has already made a Heaps omelet.

There has been plenty of talk about Tennessee’s coaching staff or the all-star staff, as coveted 2010 quarterback prospect Jake Heaps referred to it this week. The first weekend of April, that all-star staff will have a their first coaches clinic and it will feature another all-star.

From Rivals...Like that he calls the staff all stars...

On Heaps and taking a mission from Hubbers:

He has been in contact with David Reaves for nearly a year so the two have a relationship. They are further along in recruiting him than they are any other quarterback.

As for the mission, his indication to me is that he is not going to take one, although he did leave the door slightly cracked. But right now my thought is that he won't take one.

this kid looks pretty good from the video ive seen, but i hope the coach at our rival school sends some video to coach kiffen he plays at a small hs so he proley wont get to go anywhere big, but i belive he has what it takes to play 1a football, he attends our camp ever year, his name is julian mitchell he goesabout 6'1 175, left handed, he neeeds to put on about 10-12 lbs he runs a 4.4 40, he can throw the ball 65 yards with ease, he is one of the best ive seen at throwing the ball on the roll to the right or left, without si5int up, but has a true pass first mentalitty. he really puts you in mind of a more moile left handed warren moon , he lit us up last year as a JR for 394 yrds 5 TDS threw the air an 4 on the ground, ha full ride offers from william and merry and uva @ wise as af as i know .its ben a while sence ive talked o him,; only thing i belive that would hurt him at playin somewhere like UT is he pla7s in a true spreadl

Kiffin isn't high on Dual-threat QBs, so I doubt the guy would get a 2nd look.

The talent level in SW Va isn't exactly that great. The Jones' came from Powell Valley( Thomas/ Julian). With that impressive offer list it might be a while before anyone notices him; if ever.

I frequent another board over at operationsports more than I do VN. I love passing on those recruiting notes from GVXtra. The guys that talk recruiting the most are west coasters that believe the world revolves around them.

I pop into the recruiting thread, drop a note about Heaps, and watch them scramble and complain.

It's great.
