11 FL OT Zach DeBell (UGA Commit)

Dooley has said several times that we'll take 4-5 OL this year. We'd love to have Richardson as one of those and since we know he'll be announcing late (probably at the AA game), I assume the plan is: get 4 on board by the end of the season, hope we land Richardson as the 5th, and if we miss on Richardson either stay at 4 or pick up one of the guys that we slow-played to that point.

If that is the plan, then we will try to take 3 more before the end of the season (since Posey is already on board). Who do we take out of this group:

C Mack Crowder
T Zach DeBell
T/G Kyler Kerbyson
G Zach West
T/G Tyler Johnstone (granted, he doesn't have an offer yet, but is showing a lot of interest and could maybe get an offer)

edit: my guess is take Crowder; take the first two to commit out of DeBell, Kerbyson, and West; slowplay Johnstone

Who do we take? I would take all of them (IMO UT should take them all). Johnstone may be the toss-up out of that group, but it he puts on weight, with his athleticism he could be dominant.

Heartwarming?

OK, I'm a 'glass is half full' type so I'll take that as a good sign...

He says he also likes Vol coaches Harry Hiestand and Derek Dooley. “I’ve talked with both of them and they’re great,” he said. “Coach Dooley is a good guy and has a great sense of humor. He’s very welcoming and very well organized."

“The Tennessee ‘T’ is exactly the same of our (Tarpon Springs) ‘T’,” he said. “And that’s pretty cool. He (coach Dooley) has a giant ‘T’ on his desk and I took a picture of it because I thought it was so cool.”

DeBell told me he was impressed that Derek Dooley spent 45 minutes speaking with him and his parents. DeBell also got to meet some offensive linemen and QB Matt Simms. :)

I liked this quote even more.

DeBell says he didn't commit during his visit but he clearly enjoyed his stay.

Usually when they say they didn't commit on the visit, it means they're close.

When offensive lineman Zach DeBell (Tarpon Springs, Fla./Tarpon Springs) visited Tennessee Monday he got even more than expected.

The 6-foot-7, 265-pounder was visited by Volunteers head coach Derek Dooley, who spent over a half hour talking with DeBell and his family.

"I was an incredible honor for Coach Dooley to take time out of his busy day to talk with us," DeBell added. "He's a great man and he's going to do wonderful things at the program."

Tennessee joins Ole Miss, Notre Dame, UCLA, South Carolina and Georgia on a short list for the rising senior prospect. He says all six schools are currently even for his services.

However, DeBell's tour of the Tennessee campus and athletic facilities appeared to leave a positive impression on the projected tackle.

"It is a beautiful place, great campus, great facilities for the athletes," DeBell said. "It's like living in a four-star resort. It's got everything."

Sounds good.
