'11 FL RB Andrew Buie

I just can't believe with measurables and stats that he has, he does not have other offers. I know he plays crap competition, but dang, his speed and quickness should be able to plug right into a good system and go.

He's very small. Not many guys his size make a big impact in the SEC. Only a couple I can think of in recent history.

Evander Wells ran a 10.7 his senior year and that was the fastest time of any track athlete in Georgia that year, so a 10.7 for a junior year time is not terrible, actually it is good enough to get you a scholarship for track at Tennessee. :ermm:

Actually Wells is in another world from the guys we're talking about. In '06 (we're still talking HS here) Wells ran a 10.43 at the Jr National prelims. He in fact ran a 10.39 in '06 but that one was wind aided. He also had a top 10 in the country 200m of 20.98 and a top 5 60m with 6.77.

Young will be the better college player.

How do you figure? I'd be willing to bet money that Buie has a bigger impact than Devrin Young at the next level. The coaches have to be seeing something in D. Young that stands out because right now, Buie is the better player. I hate that the staff went this direction.

Young has the fastest shuttle time I have ever seen.

That is almost sub 4.0. That is nuts. I'll try to find a faster one, but that the fastest I can ever remember seeing.

People are sleeping on Devrin. I knew when he was a soph, he was major D-1. The ONLY thing is, I thought he would grow FAR more than he has. I think that's what hurt his offer sheet, JMO.

I really like the smith commit at rb anyways, and I love dy's shuttle time. As long as the staff pulls in more speed at some other positions, I'm not going to be disappointed that they whiffed on Buie.

I'll take that bet. You don't know anything about Buie outside of Rivals rankings but keep pretending you do. We have a Buie right now and that's David Oku, and we don't need another one. Young on the other hand is an instant hit right away in ST, as a slot guy, and can even line up in the backfield. He will be a better fit at UT and will be a better player.

Buie's a lot faster than Oku. You can tell that easy. Come on now guy. His top end speed is a lot better.

Couldn't really tell that out of high school. Oku's highlights and videos lead people on here to believing that he was the next Coker with less baggage.

And Young is a lot faster than Buie and is a better fit for TN.

I think Oku is faster and the much better RB especially out of high school. Oku's film was alot better than Buie's.

Buie's 100m is kinda underwhelming compared to others of his size.

alot of 100 meter running is coaching.

Oku outta High school is a better prospect than just about every RB we are going after this yr.

He was special in HS

I said Buie was faster not better. Oku was a monster in high school but Buie still looks faster on the field than Oku to me. Oku just makes people look a bit dumber on film.:)

I may be wrong, but Oku had a better 100 M and 40 yd. dash time coming out of high school. I don't know what you're basing your information off of because on tape Oku looks faster and the times back it up. So why would you want another Oku on the board when you are just adding unneeded depth at a position where there are plenty good prospects in the state of TN alone next year and then in 13 with Green.

Devrin is faster, is a perfect slot guy, and is what what we need on special teams. I just don't see the argument. No disrespect, I just can't see it.

a 5'5 guy is a perfect slot WR? really?

he's perfect to you, because he's from Knoxville.

There is Zero chance this board would be clamoring & Pining over Devrin if he was from Memphis let alone another state.

Zip, Zilch NADA...

If he was from Alaska and putting up these numbers vs Eskimoe competition, every single person would question taking this kid.

Buie isn't faster than Oku. He definitely isn't faster than Oku was as a recruit. DO is struggling to carry the necessary weight for RB.

I'm not comparing Young to these guys as players by any means, but I can't find a guy who has posted a faster shuttle time than him.

Devrin Young- 4.03
Chris Rainey- 4.03
Brandon James- 4.12
Jeff Demps- 4.15
Jahvid Best- 4.17 (college)
C.J. Spiller- 4.18 (college)
Noel Devine- 4.19

Everybody loves Kimbro and their numbers aren't far apart.

and the competition Kimbruh plays exceeds the Comp young plays against... thats my point.

Really? Is that why almost every team that comes from East Tennessee & plays in the state championship game against West Tennessee competition wins the State Championship?

where are the better athletes? what area has more BCS prospects yr in & yr out? Memphis or Knoxville? Im just curious ...

Team success isnt what Im speaking on and you know it, Im talkin about lining up athlete for athlete. there isnt a single kid on Devrin Young Hilight films who sticks out. I havent seen em, have you? let me know.
