'11 FL RB Andrew Buie

If I'm not mistaking, Knox Catholic plays Maryville tonight on local TV. It will be online if that's the case. Good chance to check out Kyler Kerbyson live. Oh, but I guess he's no good either. I forgot, he plays in East Tennessee.....

There's a major difference between Kerbyson and Young. Kerbyson has offers from almost every elite team in college football. Young has only 1 committable D-1 offer.

I stand corrected. They play tonight, but they decided to play Gibbs and Carter. A game that NOBODY cares about.

Being that you have 10,000+ posts, I would think you could detect sarcasm. Guess not...

Dooley was one of the 1st to offer Kyler. I remember because the lynch mob was out for that one too. Until other big schools offered that is.

I'm confused at the competition argument. What does that have to do with young's vision and speed. His competition wasn't the reason he ran a 4.03 shuttle and a 4.3 to 4.4 in camps. Buie would be a take if you agree that we should pass on the two rbs in TN next year. We have Smith and then have a stable of rbs for the next two recruiting classes like the two in TN and then green in 2013. Buie would not be a take. We need a slot guy and a guy that is a threat to take it to the house on every kick and punt. So tell me would young or buie fit that description better. It is hands down young.

Some are just upset because they SWORE that the staff was not gonna offer. They SWORE that the staff had did their eval, and Young needed to look elsewhere. Honestly, I'm not sure if offering young bothers them more or eating crow.

I would've taken Buie over Young, but Young does have a big speed and quickness advantage over both of them.

Those two things are what this team lacks. If the fans notice it, you can bet the staff is fully aware. That PR by Gordon was the most juking and display of the ability to make people miss that I've seen in a long long time.

I would have liked to had Buie but Young has a lot of speed to offer and meets a need that we need right now. We just can't waste more space on somebody that is going to be watching and won't even see the two deep next year. I would hope we are done with RB's and save the rest of our space for other spots of need (DT's please - wish we had a log jam there).

There is a good chance that ANY of these kids might not develop into anything. Is there PROOF that Buie turns into a stud. I remember when Jarvis Jiles committed to us. EVERYONE (including me) was through the roof. I mean, a Fla boy with big time stats, good speed, and played against Fla competition, LOL. God he SUCKS.

a 5'5 guy is a perfect slot WR? really?

he's perfect to you, because he's from Knoxville.

There is Zero chance this board would be clamoring & Pining over Devrin if he was from Memphis let alone another state.

Zip, Zilch NADA...

If he was from Alaska and putting up these numbers vs Eskimoe competition, every single person would question taking this kid.

Why would he be perfect to me because he's from Knoxville? I'm from West TN, I could care less if a player is from Knoxville or from Canada as long as they fill a void that is on this team. Young fills that void of KR/PR/Slot Receiver/APB better than Buie does. Buie is just another Oku when we have plenty of RBs that we will be going after in the '12 and '13 classes. Now unless you want to argue that Buie is a better KR/PR/Slot WR then I really don't see your point.

I think its the exact opposite. Most on this board didn't want Young regardless. When he actually committed; a lot of people took the "I trust the staff" route. Which is fine.

I think,in general, people are skeptical about Knoxville area kids because of the history there. I think if he was coming out of Memphis, Atlanata, Alabama, etc. people wouldn't have doubted him as much in the beginnng.

I get your point though; people think kids from Knoxville (area) are better because these same people are from Knoxville or the area.

I think it goes both ways. So I guess I disagree with the zero, zip, zilch, nada part of your post.

I'm from K-town and when I played 12 years ago, we didn't have anyone that was remotely close to being talented being a quality prospect.

Of course, in those days, Fulton and Austin East were a joke and Alcoa was a slightly better than average team. It was all Halls, Powell, Maryville and Farragut that made noise... though they would all usually get manhandled by mid and west TN teams in the playoffs.

Yeah, now they hang with mid and west tenn teams quite well. A couple of teams that I've noticed THE BIGGEST drops in are Oak Ridge, Morristown East and West, and Jeff County. The Morristown Teams have PLENTY of talent each yr, they just CONTINUE to work by the "1920 good ole' boy system". They won't go out and hire good coaches, they keep letting the local "good ole boy" coach their teams. TRAGIC!
