What trouble do coaches go through to redshirt a guy? They don't play, they get a redshirt. Doesn't seem like much trouble to me. I mean they redshirt walk-ons after all, so it doesn't necessarily mean that they think he is going to turn it around and be great next year. Not saying that he won't but I don't think him being redshirted is any sort of indication one way or the other.

Cause coaches usually don't redshirt juice players unless they're hurt or they plan on playing them.

I can guarantee you right now if Jones calls up Bill Clark and says "Coach I know I can't talk to them right now but I've heard the news lately and if this thing happens I think we might have a place for a few of your boys up at Tennessee" that Clark is not going to run to turn him in, NCAA rules or no.

Even if you think Blair is the answer at LT and we have another RT on the roster somewhere, we still have no depth. I'm not saying I think these guys will be great players but even if they're mediocre they're probably better than what we have. We've been playing OGs, centers, and walkons with torn ACL at OT, their best OT cannot be worse than our backup plan at OT.

But I think the fact that I went to some games this year and have watched UAB a lot more this year than you ever have and ever will in your life might make me more of an expert than you are.

It amazing how no one cared about UAB football until they were going to get shut down, now I have people like you telling me that I know nothing about UAB football when Ive been going to games since Watson Brown was there because he lived down the street from me.
Just because you've gone to their games doesn't mean you can evaluate football talent. Some people can, some people can't.

You watched a few games.... good for you. Still not an expert. I never claimed to be.

If our coaches find him fit to recruit I will defer to them... unless you get on here and let us know you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

That would change EVERYTHING.

No one on here is an expert, so thats the dumbest argument I've ever heard haha I voiced my opinion (which is what this board is for) that I don't think that we would take a UAB player and you are the one who accused me of being an expert, which I replied I bet I know more about UAB than you do, which doesn't make me an expert by any means, The only reason the word expert was used is cause you decided to accuse me of claiming to be an expert, and all I said was if knowing more about UAB football than you makes me an expert than I guess I am. If this is an expert only area then we are going to have very few post.

So get off my back for posting my opinion. Ill make any bet with you in the world that I'm more right about this than you.

Of course, but what else is this board for other than for people to voice their opinion about if they think a guy can play for Tennessee.

If nothing else, this guy would provide quality depth at a position that has none and will still have none next year.

Yup. Pretty much what I was saying earlier. No way in the world would UAB's coach want anything else but to help find a place for his kids to play. Do I think he would absolutely love calling 1-2 of his guys into his office and saying, "Coach Butch Jones at Tennessee called and said he has a spot for you if you want it". I bet he would. I'd guess the #1 priority for that coach right now is making sure his guys find a place to play so he does not feel like he let them down.

OK chief. One sec while I file your opinion away somewhere very, very important and give it the continued attention it deserves...

His Hudl film looks really good. Going to have to search for some UAB games on demand and watch him play.

It'd be nice, but looks like something we will never have a chance at. I highly doubt uab shuts there program down.

IMO would be some good pub for Tennessee as well. UAB shuts down the program hanging all those guys out to dry. In comes CBJ to give 1-2 of them a new place to call home. Be 1 of the 1st to dip into that roster and most likely you get all the headlines.

But how will it affect the numbers?

I would say we have as good a chance of landing him as any other school. The best part is he has experience, age and immediate eligibility.

It would take 1-2 spots from the 85. With several commits taking visits, maybe it comes down to that recruit losing his spot and it not being filled by a signee and maybe by a transfer.

Yes, transfers do not count against the 2015 class signees, but when you are planning to over sign by as many as UT is transfers have to play into the class count then.

With an entire roster of kids looking for a new home, I'd imagine the early bird gets the worm in most cases. I'd imagine a UAB kid getting a call/offer of a spot to Tennessee with the chance at early SEC playing time would be a situation that would not require a lot of consideration by most of these guys. Is this guy at least all conference in what ever crappy conference UAB was in?

Skip to 7:20ish and you can see him in a little action against Arkansas. Just before that the UAB return guy houses one 99 yards if you like that sort of thing not sure who he was.

One positive was the fact this is an Arkansas fan highlight reel and this guy was basically not in it in any negative way.

Pretty damn sure their line would give up less sacks to Vandy and Chattanooga than ours did. I would definitely look at getting one of the transfers in IF Butch thinks they can contribute. It's not just we don't have a starter, we have ZERO depth at tackle period. IDK if there is a quick fix but I would look into some of these kids. You might even be able to get a situation where someone would walkon?
I agree
