I could see CDD telling CP that he needs to do something now or he is taking his chances come NSD. I am sure CDD would not just out right pass on him. He will just let him know that a spot will not be held for him. Maybe CP likes UGA or ARK enough to take his chances that we do not fill up. If we do, he can just pick one of the other options.

We will make room for him. There is no doubt in my mind. The idea that we are giving Patterson ultimatums is silly.

I don't believe the ultimatums rumor either. What I don't agree with is that they will tell a kid to walk on NSD. That is a good way to screw yourself up down the road. I could be wrong, and maybe they prepare a kid for it..idk.

Who'd you here that from? It seems to me that the same rumor just keep circulating round and round and round.

That was a miss type, the "I" should be there. All the info I have gathered from reading on the net the same as most everyone else on this board.

My thoughts: Patterson has first round NFL potential. He has a spot if and WHEN he wants it. Those saying that the coaches are trying to spook him into getting on with things badly mis-estimate the balance of power in CP/Tennessee relationship. He has elite talent, we need elite talent. Therefore he has the power.

I agree that CP is an elite talent and we can use all the elite talent that we can get but IMO the staff is looking at his years of eligibility that he has left and not being an EE changes things a little. I would still like to to have him at UT though.

CP is significantly better than the WRs we have committed and can contribute immediately at a thin position. Stop acting like the WRs we have committed make it okay to not land CP. They arent related. classic "we didnt want him anyway" if he goes somewhere else.

We have guys committed who are probably just as talented as CP, who may very well be just as good in the future. The reason CP is a need is that he will be that good next year since he is a JUCO, whereas Croom, Bowles, etc. will need a year or two to hit their stride.

They will hold a spot for him no matter what.

For all of the talk of ultimatums, it may be out of Patterson's hands academically as to whether or not he is an EE. I am sure he knows enrolling early will get him a jump start on next year's performance wherever he lands. He might just not have the grades to make it happen.

Agree to disagree.

It's likely that Hunter and Rogers are gone after next season. It would be great to have Patterson in '13.

Hunter won't be gone. He's coming off of knee surgery and will probably have a lesser year than many are expecting. As for Rogers, while he has the potential to go nuts, unless he steps his game and attitude up, he will be severly disappointed if he feels he is ready for the NFL. Some of you overrate these guys a little too much. Keep in mind, we had one of the worst offenses in CFB last year.

Ha. How many guys have you seen bounce back 1 year after tearing an ACL and just be dominant at WR outside of Wes Welker? Usually takes two years to be a full go with this injury

Doesn't mean he'll stay. Bray, Rogers, and Hunter are all three and done unless something happens where they can't get drafted.

I may disagree, but functionally it is the same. CP is at least somewhat of a need because he will be able to come in and dominate immediately, though not being an EE might hurt his chances.

I find myself a little torn, tbh. Patterson is a semi-need, IMO, but no way we save a spot if...say...Darius Hamilton, McCullers, Autry, Collins, and Davis come calling...Whether or not we tell an earlier commit to look elsewhere depends on how late in the process it is.

Everyone keeps saying Bray and Co. are going to go pro after next year...can we at least win 9 games in a season before we declare these guys 1st rounders?

If they all play good enough to be three and done next year, then we will win the SEC East... Not saying it won't happen, but Hunter has to comeback after tearing an ACL. Rogers better get his act together or he might be 2 and done. Bray has all the tools to be a great quarterback, but we will have to see if the space between his ears grows in both maturity and knowledge in the offseason. People crowned him the next Peyton, but what sets Peyton apart is his drive to not be out worked. Peyton spent his time studying film and throwing. Bray is out smoking and drinking. Until he makes a commitment to be the best, he will not be some shoe-in first or second rounder.

If things improve drastically and they feel they have the chance to lift some championship hardware their senior season, they might come back.

Good post. Hate to speculate on Bray's habits but it is what it is.
