#57 CB on ESPN:
Dawson is a scheme versatile, athletic defensive back and also a promising running back. Football fast on defense. Lacks great size. Is a bit high cut but may be more coveted on the recruiting trail if he had an extra inch or two of height. Very active and productive underneath defender with a nose for the football. Closes fast and aggressively. Displays very good underneath range and pursuit speed. Has a ball-hawk feel to his game and could develop into a productive nickel back. Plays the game with a fast and physical style of play. Does a good job anticipating the pass and breaking underneath. Shows solid explosion out of his pedal and plant and drive skill. Deep ball awareness skills are good. However, angles can be rounded on pursuit and out of breaks. Would like to see him clean his transitional skills. Would benefit from more sink in his hips to help shift weight when opening to turn and run. Smoother coming out of his pedal breaking underneath than flipping his hips to run vertically. For his aggressive Cover 2 zone style, he will need to add more size and upper-body strength to continue getting of the stalk block, setting the edge and pressing today's bigger college receivers. A quick and electric runner on offense who projects as a change-of-pace or multi-purpose back. A quick hitter who can dart through a seam just as it opens or take the stretch play outside and threaten the corner. Does not give defenders a clean shot. Shows good burst through second level. Quicker than fast but still a threat with his great lateral movements, change-of-direction and loose hips. Overall, Dawson is a quick and savvy athlete and quality skill prospect who could add value on both sides of ball if he finds the right system fitting scheme.
