'12 TN ATH Sheldon Dawson

Lol...we have beaten the "big boys" the past two classes. We will beat them for some kids this year. You should probably find another hobby.

Unless you call SC, Vandy, and UK the big boys....no we did not. All the "Big Boys"...Bama, AU, UF, UGA, LSU all beat us in recruiting last year. Yes, I know rankings mean nothing....but when our class sits at # 48...I wonder if that will still be the feeling around here.

If you are talking about this class being ranked #48 in the country I will bet anything you want that the '12 Tennessee Football Recruiting Class will end up ATLEAST in the top 25 & could be very close to another top 15 class.

Funny stuff in this thread. It's not about you Mirimar. It's about people posting inaccurate information as fact. Just a pet peeve.

You just turned me into a nega-Vol with that post. There should never ever be a time we as a fanbase say "top 25, at least". We should consistently expect top 15, or the staff isn't doing their job correctly.

Between 15 and 25 sounds about right. Most any SEC can fall backwards into the top 25.

These are all guys who were offered (accroding to Rivals profile) by at least one of the schools you just mentioned. This doesn't include guys like Crowder and Smith who were reported to have offers from one of these schools. This also doesn't include guys like Neal and Coleman, who finished ranked in the top 250 but don't show offers from said schools. So don't be ignorant and say we haven't beaten tehse guys on the trail, because we have. And yea, rankings matter. But if you think there is a big difference between the 13th class and the 7th class than you are a fool. And we will finish this next year top 25, maybe top 20.

I want to see enrolled classes too. Probably not as important for next year given the new rules, but I want to see where last year's class compares to the rest of the SEC given how many actually make it into school.

Top 15 is only good enough for now, and that's because we're down. We have to be in the Top 10 to compete for championships in the SEC.

Im not sure I would call it a WIN if they filled up with 4-5stars(kids they liked more) and had no room for the guy mentioned. With them all being ranked ahead of us...this is more likely than case than a recruiting WIN. Also, 7 of those guys are Tennessee kids and per everyones arguement should have been VOL locks right? Don't get me wrong...we will have a solid class as does ANY SEC team. There are enough decent players wanting to play in the best conference in America.

ha. How can you tell if Bama or UF wanted another kid more? I guarentee you almost all of those kids could have committed to anyone else if they wanted. And your comment on Tennessee kids is well recieved. But it's not easy to recruit Memphis (as shown by losing Kimbrow this year). And if you are going to make the instate comment, then I suggest you look at the schools you are comparing us to. Every one of them has at least double the D-1 players that Tennessee does, with most having four or five times the D-1 players we do. Thus, that's why we always start off slower, and will pick up steam the longer the season goes on.

If you think we're going to have a solid class then quit whining every other post.

Solid Class= bottom part of the SEC.

When Bama, LSU, UGA, UF, AU all beat you year in and year out recruiting....you may have a solid class on NSD...but your still beat come Saturday.

A top 25 class is good if you play in the Big East. In the SEC, it makes you marginally better than Kentucky.

Guys...all of this 15-25 stuff is selling us way short...

Does anyone believe that we won't land at least 10 4*'s in this class?

According to my spreadsheet 10 4*'s would give us 1725-1775 Rivals points which has never fallen outside the top 15 in the 10 year history of Rivals...

I have a projected class of 14 4*'s and 8 3*'s...all of whom have publicly declared us in their top 5 if not higher...if what I've projected happens then we would have 2050 points which on average puts us in the top 10...

I think there is a false belief out there that because we are taking less in this class we won't be able to finish as high...

But...at least on Rivals which has a quality/not quantity driven formula...that's just not true

ha. We could get a class ramked at 20 this year and, if it's filled with guys at certain positions, it could bring us closer to all those schools. The first thing you need to do, however, is quit focusing on getting back to UF and Bama's level. That's still two or three years away. Right now, we need to focus on getting back to UGA and USCe's level.
