'12 TN ATH Sheldon Dawson

Yes, I am 35. I know how recruiting works and that is why I am not content being a middle of the SEC kind of team. Our current recruiting would actually be a LAST in the SEC kind of team. No worries, Its only June!

You clearly don't know how recruiting works if you're this freaked out this early...that's all there is to it...

Yours is one of if not the most absurd posting histories that I've ever seen on here...and you're a grown man which makes it 1000x worse...

I've seen teenagers be more reasonable than this on here

Delusional post is delusional.

If being reasonable is accepting us being mediocre..your right...I'm not.

As for Dawson, If he can accept the fact RB is not the position he will play here...he could be a take.

So I take it you didn't like the last two recruiting classes.

No it isn't. The marginal differences across the SEC, as long as they're fairly tightly bunched make no difference at all. The difference is made by how many bust and how many become true stars. Last year's class was our best in nearly a decade.

Staying on par with the top guys will get us our share of the prizes. We keep recruiting like last year and we'll be fine.

Nice post.

Middle of the pack classes. They were decent and with the coaching changes, acceptable. The issue with this years to date is a HUGE lack of interest and alot less talk of UT as being a big player for top recruits. Case in point the 50 kids rated as 5 star talent. (18) are already off the board and any idea how many we are a contender for? Exactly...(1) and even he is headed to UF IMO. (Humphries). Just one example of why I think we are coming up short.

Before we go into questioning Dooley, let's just analyze the two recruiting classes and what it meant.

QB- Gave us elite talent with Bray and Worley
RB- Gave us what looks to be elite potential in Lane, Smith, and Neal.
WR- Gave us elite talent with Hunter, Rogers, Arnett, and Dallas.
TE- Still lacking a bit depth wise here, but landed Clear.
OL- Gave us elite talent and gave us a ton of depth for future.
DE- Elite talent in Maggitt, Smith, and Williams. Still need to build more depth.
DT- Gave us very good talent with Couch and Miller along with two guys who have potential but are more wait and see in Saulsberry and Carson. Still needs to be addressed.
LB- Coaches have raved over Johnson and Harris. Still need more depth here.
DB- Stock piled us with talent and depth.

So in under 2 years on the job, two recruiting classes have provided us with elite potential at QB, RB, WR, OL, and DB. It has given us elite talent at DE (still need to build more depth), has given us two very good DTs (still need to build more depth), and has given us two potentially very good LBs (still need to build depth). Also, it landed us two of the best kickers and punters in the nation.

I guess he also missed the point of how we have to WIN games to attract the big names. The hole that PF and LK left us in was a deep one. Dooley gets a top 15 class again and continues to fill the GAPING holes those two left for him.

If we average 1 good backer, 1 DT, and 1 DE per class....that explains why we are in the situation we are in. Maybe us taking 8 backs and wrs in this class will solve all our problems. At least we are being talked about with a couple of them.

I guess you need to average it again.

Perhaps then we should hire you as a consultant because it's obvious you could do a better job than the coaches. I know, I hate it when people say that, but there it is.

There is method behind this madness. It will show itself in time if it already isn't.

Do you think the hesitation to take commitments is in part due to the flurry of interest we had from high profile guys near the end of last year's recruiting cycle when our class was almost full?

I won't speculate too much on it. I just know it ended up alright last year so until the coaches prove they don't know what they are doing, I'm going to assume they do.

Oh I agree. I'm not implying that they're doing anything wrong. Just saying that it seemed like we were in a huge numbers crunch through a lot of the end of the last recruiting cycle, so maybe the coaches are trying to avoid that this year by being extra selective with who they'll accept a commitment from early on this time around.

Rucker states on radio show with Barton Simmons that UT is in really good shape with Sheldon Dawson and that he is soon to be a 4*.

Barton thinks Dawson could possibly be the best player in the state. Just me thinking here... you could see Dawson end up in the 247. Not sure if they tweak enough to get him up there yet, but the way Barton has raved about him... I wouldn't be surprised if he jumped that high.

I fully expect Dawson to be ranked the #1 player in the state on 247.

I also fully expect Dawson to be bumped up to a 4* on all the major recruiting sites at some point soon.

LOL at middle of the pack classes in 10 and 11. There is not that big of a difference between the 5th class and the 13th class. How does dude not get that?

The only explanation is he's a troll seeking attention. And unfortunately he's getting what he wants.

On paper this may very well be true. The problem is with us being ranked 13th last year. There were 5 SEC teams ranked higher in recruiting than Tennessee. We played to and lost to 4 of them. The one we did not play won the national championship. Maybe it's not that big of a difference...but it looks to be on the field.
