'12 TN DT Tevin Bryson

Why no rivals, or scout profiles added. That sucks for us phone viewers.

Hubbs mentioned Bryson as someone who is starting to pick up a lot of interest. Couldnt find any recruiting profiles on him but he does have some film.

I have found that many good players are overlooked because they play a single a sschedule. Don't make any difference. Look at that linbacker that played for Hollow Rock (Carroll county) and ended up at Ole Miss. Everyone said he wasn't good enough to play for Tennessee and no he is a big name pro player. If you are good you are good. I don't care if you play Pop Warner !!!!!

that school is tiny, i think they have like 400 kids k-12, a buddy of mine played there a few years behind willis and as small as they are theyve produced some pretty good talent.

The one thing I love about the guy is he fires off the ball. He might play against terrible competition, but he gets off the ball really good.

yeah you cant control who you play against you just have to do the best against whoever you see on the field. with that being said if by some chance we do pursue him i would hope that he put up some big time numbers, anyone have any info on his stats? SIAP dont feel like wading through 7 pages when theres other stuff to read elsewhere.

If we're willing to gamble on the likes of Cody Blanc, I don't see the problem in taking a little risk on a DT.

agreed, people will argue for blanc saying you cant teach speed, well you cant teach a kid to be 6 foot 4 and 285 pounds either. nor can you teach an out of stater to have that homegrown love for everything vol football. il take a project like this guy who will give his all to his boyhood favorite school all day long. especially seeing as we lost jacobs.

Dave Osborn came from a school that had about 80 students. Played 9 man football. Jim Kleinsasser came from a school that had about 200 students. Played 9 man football. Just my 2cents that sometimes where these kids come from really does not matter. I'm thinking that if Bryson gets the chance to play Div.1 football at UT, he will be elated to don the Orange.

I think I read today on TOS (VQ) that Rivals has said they would have a ranking on him very soon. Considering the opposition he plays against, it would be highly unlikely to be anything higher than a mid-range 3*, in my opinion especially since we are interested in him (sarcasm).

Given the stance by the Cheek administration, a 2.5 gpa with a 17 ACT (pretty much minimum qualifier level) from a rural area will be a hard sell to get him in -- a true first test for Hart. He definitely needs to retake the ACT to see if he can improve his score by 3-4 points. A lot may depend on what his core grades look like, and I suspect this is a big area that the staff is looking into.

A lot could also depend on how we are looking with Shanks, Kirven, and Tomlinson.

Consider the competition in that video...

I'm not trying to hate on this kid but he's a Vanderbilt level player...

We don't have the spots left to take a kid like this unless we miss on several players who are much better than him

Considering we lucked out of losing to Vandy....and lost to KY with a WR running the same few plays I'd say he is actually TN level right now.

he will probably get an offer but will be slow played until we know about McCullers, Kirven, or Tomlison

They better not slow play him. He's a take IMO. As I said in another thread, take Bryson then try to land 1 of McCullers/Shanks/Kirven & be done on the DL.

with what we have now... would be a good D-line class compared to what we have historically recruited to Tennessee

Honestly I'm of the line of thinking that you get as many DL as you can. I say take this kid and if you can get McCullers and Shanks or Kirven you take all 3. We have been deficient in this area for so long and it is clear that DL one major difference in the elite teams. Take as many as you can get and see who pans out. If you gotta tell someone else to move on or greyshirt someone do what you gotta do. You don't turn any of these 4 DL away if they wanna come.

He has an offer from UNC so they shouldn't wait too long. Also, if UNC thinks they can get him in then he should have no problem getting into Tennessee.

Fo sho. There is no way he can get into UNC if there are questions about him here.

I also agree that all of the DTs are a take if they want to commit. We will be doing the same song and dance next year and DT is one of the hardest positions to recruit. If we can take them all and redshirt 1 or 2 then it makes it less of a problem next year and the year after.

I definitely do not want to have this same conversation next year.

UT already has several 6'4" 285+ DT over there who aren't seeing the field.
Did this kid camp with UT, or anyone of note?

Don't think so. That's why it's taken him so long to come onto the scene.

Since he didn't attend camp I would assume the staff knew nothing of him. I am assuming if the staff had personally invited him to camp he would have been there. Correct?

this guy is severely underrated.

Based on what?

He did not attend any camps that anyone knows of, especially national camps. That alone will cost a kid a star, they like to show love to kids who come to their camps.

Secondly he plays horrible competition.

So really the only thing you can go off of is what he shows ability wise on tape. If anything I am shocked hes even a 3 star on one of the sites.

Heck the kid could be horribly weak, not saying he is but his measurables have not been recorded by anyone other than his coaches.

I would guess so. He has expressed high interest in us.
